On ebay is a RCA display. The pictures show a black plastic base a clear top with a lock and label that says RCA Dimensia Compact Discs / Hi Fi Videos. Over all it measures 17 x 17 x 12 inches.

Was the case used for promotional materials?

This case looks like it was for storage of compact discs either sold at the RCA dealership or used for demonstrations of the new MCD140 CD player:

Back in 1984 there were relatively few CD titles available and some potential customers may have not even heard of the technology, so it made sense for Dimensia dealers to have a small selection available.
