I've been told that the public library in Simi Valley, California has its collection of VideoDiscs for sale at $1 each in the Friends of the Library Department. A title list is not available and only local pickup is possible, so this will mainly be of interest to those nearby.

I happened to be out in LA this week for work so I drove out to the SV library to check out what they had.

There are approximately 75 CEDs available. Unortunately I didn't have time to take an inventory, but I did filp through them all a few times.

They are all in excellent condition. These were from a home collection I can only assume.

I asked the library if they were from there own collection and were being cleared out, but they told me that the friends of the library area is all donated materials that they sell off. IE these weren't in the basement of the library for 20 years, rather they came from a home.

Nothing exotic was in the pile, but they were some good clasics.

There were about 10 different Fairy Tale Theatre titles, Beverly hills cop, Fame, TUT, Fanny & Alexander, Bett Middler live (or something like that), etc..

So if you are in the greater LA area and want some nice clean discs for your library check it out. Or if you are somewhat insane and live in MA, 3500 miles away as I do, don't make the drive.
