| I got my first CED player in 1990, from a friend who told me that if I helped him move, I could have his mom's "laserdisc" player. I didn't even know what CED was, but I wanted a laserdisc player, so I said 'ok'. Well, I got it home, plugged it in (it was an SJT-90), turned it on, and the door opened. I didn't have any laserdiscs to test it with, but the next day I rented two from the local video store. I took them home and actually tried to feed the laserdisc into the loading slot! It of course would not take it, so I took the cover off and put the disc directly on the turntable. I tripped a few switches to make it play, and nothing came on the screen (go figure). So I opened up the little compartment and found a cartridge instead of a laser, with a needle! It was then that I knew I did not have a laserdisc player. I returned the laserdiscs the next day (with a few added scratches from trying to load them in the slot LOL). Being a kid, I decided to demolish the CED player because I like taking things apart. It ended up in the trash. Of course, looking back now, I regret my stupidity... I have since bought 3 players (10 Years ago) off of ebay, an SGT-200 (my main player, still works) and two Sears players (one works perfectly, one doesn't). I also acquired another SJT-090 from a thrift store which works perfectly. |

| My first CED player was given to me by a paternal aunt. It was an RCA SJT 100 with about 50 films. It was given to her by her daughter when it first came out. I ended up with it in 94'. I've then amassed more than 200 films and have in addition to the SJT 100, I have an SJT 090, SFT 100 (non working), and a SJT 300 (non working). The SJT will go to get refurbished when time and money warrant. |

| I was living in American Samoa and purchased there my first player in 1981 - it was much less expensive then than the newly-introduced VCR. We had a total of six movies (for almost two years) and watched them over and over because there was virtually no TV. Since then I have collected 13 players and over 900 movies. I am looking to liquidate the entire collection, in one batch if possible. Anyone interested would have to pick the collection up in a truck because of the weight of the movies. You can contact me at marilyn_wilson@comcast.net. |

Found an SKT-400 in excellent condition, with the Remote Commander at the local Goodwill store. Had lots of good discs as well. This was circa 2001, have never seen CED items since. _________________ •• SKT 400 • LDR 600 • CLD-D604 • CLD-52 •• |

bought my first player in august
off ebay, here in the US, for a decent
price. along with the star wars trilogy,
and a few others i haven't watched..
its the rca sft100, and it works fine,
although i've had a hard time finding
cables for the rca connectors..went to
radio shack finally..
i'm capturing the video to computer,
so i don't have to keep playing the discs,
and it's working out ok, i've passed the
signal through a VCR i found that someone
threw out...and going to a video capture card..
looks decent with a few glitches..
will post a video on youtube soon..
later

| My first player when I was about 8 or 10 years old was old faithful, the SFT-100. I still have it, reconditioned of course, along with an SJT-090 as well. That came from eBay. Honestly, do we collect these for any other reason than nostalic childhood connections we can't give up? I THINK SO. |

I found my SJT-400 in a Goodwill in Greenwood, Indiana about 5-6 years ago for, I believe, $10. New stylus, new belts, installed fan per Tom's instructions, working great ever since. Also have a 90 series that was owned by my wife's grandparents.
My first experience with CED was babysitting for a neighborhood kid, whose dad, Robert Huck, worked on CED.

After the kid would go to bed, I would fire up the CED. I distinctly remember watching "Barbarella" and nearly going out of my mind because there were about 2 seconds of a topless woman in it... Gimme a break, I was like 14 at the time. |
