I just found an original newspaper advertisement from March of 1981 for the debut of CED for sale on E Bay that I want to share. Here is the link for it:

I hate to say it but I can just imagine who ever doing the demonstration and having various defects occur. I was telling a friend of mine about players and movies a couple years ago and he said "oh we used to rent the player and get a couple movies and the player usually wouldn't work right so we'd go back and get a different player.We finally tried the player at the store first to make sure it would work but even then the picture would always get messed up" In my opinion they aren't the kind of things (both the player and movies) that would lend well to being rental units.
