I was just a young boy watching Winnie the Pooh on CED when my love for the format started. I had to part with my beloved SGT-200 when it's processor failed. Now I'm living in Germany and want to get another unit, preferably a SGT series, but line frequency might be a problem. Is it true that only the SJT and SKT series players will function properly on 50Hz? I have transformers to drop the voltage to 110, but what about the frequency? |

You are correct that only J/K players can operate with either 50 Hz or 60 Hz electricity.
It sounds like you really want a stereo G unit, so you may want to operate it with a 12V DC to 120V AC, 60 Hz converter. With a medium-sized 12V UPS battery, you'll easily be able to watch one full movie on an F/G player before needing to recharge the battery. Just make sure the power inverter you get is rated at 60Hz +/- 0.5%, or that it has a screw adjustment inside to fine-tune the frequency.
Although the information on this page applies to using a 50Hz PAL player in the U.S., you will find it can easily be adapted to your situation:
