Check out this trailer for 8-BIT Christmas which premiers tomorrow on HBO Max. There's an SFT100 player sitting under the Nintendo Entertainment System early in the trailer. And at the 2:20 mark you can see a row of CEDs in the console to the left as the kid flies across the room. That player and discs came from Derek Dresser, a collector active in the CED Facebook group.

The format was already dead when that movie took place, and that model player was the oldest. I was interested in getting one then but I held out for one with stereo. The entire movie has a few issues, another being that the NES was a couple years old by that point and most kids had it, not just the super-rich. I would soon move on to the Sega Genesis after it came out in the US while Nintendo held back the Super NES because they felt America wasn't ready for it yet.
