I am working on a Toshiba VP100 and am having a problem. The player loads correctly and starts properly. It runs smoothly, is very quiet and in great condition so I don't want to give up yet. The servo motor that drives the gears to move the stylus arm will not start. I have replaced this motor from a parts player once already and still no good. The belts are new and I installed the converted turntable pulley from CBERTA. Every once and a while the stylus arm gears start up, but they run backwards like the return button is being pressed on the control panel and that is as far as I can get. No switches look to be stuck. What are the chances the board is bad? Testing it is beyond my abilities and could use some help! If it is bad, does anyone have a parts unit I could try. Blindfury sent me one and I have scabbed parts off it but it is a Ward's player, so the main board is a bit different. Any help would be appreciated. |

the board might not be bad per-se, it might just have a bad solderjoint somewhere _________________ (2)Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350), sft100, sgt250, sjt 090-400, vp550, VDR3000, VP2000 & 4000

Is there a way to track down where the solder is bad? I can fix the easy stuff buy when it comes to troubleshooting circuit boards I have no clue. |

mainly its a visual thing, you just have to get up close and see if all the soldered points have any breaks in them, other than that you would need test equipment like a multimeter and stuff _________________ (2)Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350), sft100, sgt250, sjt 090-400, vp550, VDR3000, VP2000 & 4000
