I was told this is new. By the looks of it and everything in the box that came with it originally, it sure appears to be the case. Thing is, where are/is the shipping tab/s? Is it the bolt in the center?

Your picture shows the metal base of an RCA J or K line CED player. There are no shipping protection devises on the player base.
The shipping tabs or shipping screws are located under the front panel of the player. If the tabs are in place then they will be clearly visible since the tab is a red label. The tabs have metal pins which are inserted in the player body under the front panel and keep the stylus arm from moving during shipment. The player should have 2 shipping tabs. A later version is a screw ( 2) that fits in the hole and also has a red label. |

Thank you. Interesting. No shipping tabs, and yet the box was sealed and all the contents there within appear to be unused--as if just from the factory. Odd. |
