Has anyone compared the quality of build of the RCA vs the Hitachi styluses. The reports I have read on this forum seem to imply that the RCA styluses are having parts coming loose (bad glue?) from age. I have a number of the Hitachi styluses and they all seem to be performing correctly.
I am certain CEDatum can report on this topic. _________________ Sears 934.54780150 & 934.54810350

From CEDatum stylus repair records .
RCA . We receive carts with weak or broken fly leads. We have not seen loose parts. The fly lead problem can be caused by cartridge storage in humid or damp locations.
Hitachi - the majority of non working Hitachi carts have bad diamond tips .
Tech notes. Fly lead -this is the fine metal spring that connects the signal from the stylus tip to the output button.
The signal from the disc is picked up by an electrode on the trailing edge of the diamond tip. The electrode on the Hitachi cartridge is often damaged or chipped away. |
