|
|
I am having a problem with a VIP1000 player. It takes too long for the stylus to move over to the disc and start playing. The internal circuitry is not receiving a video signal within a certain time limit and the circuitry is sending a return signal to the arm drive.
I had this same problem with a Sears player. I replaced its belts and it fixed the problem. The VIP1000 has had its belts changed by myself so they should not be the problem.
Does anyone have any idea as to a cure? The player is very clean and shows no sign of abuse. I do not want to relegate this player to a "parts player" status. _________________ Sears 934.54780150 & 934.54810350

Try changing the landing adjustment so the stylus sets down closer to the disc. That worked for me on a CED-1 player which is the same player as your VIP1000. |

Okay.... I am a little thin on the internals. Where is the landing adjustment? I have taken the top off the player and I have lifted the circuit board into its service position.

I took my player apart and can't find that adjustment. It was a long time ago when I fixed it. Has this player worked in the past. If the Hitachi players are shipped with the shipping screw not installed a lot of times the tracking arm gets slightly bent outward. When the stylus drops down to play the disc the stylus does not touch the disc. Since no signal is present the stylus raises up and returns to the load position. I know on my Toshiba style players I have had to bend the arm inwards so it is once again perpendicular to the guide rods. It then plays fine. You might try this but be careful. Load a disc and look between the disc and the tracking arm and see if the stylus drops down and back up. |

I have messed this player up and have no idea how to correct it. I hit the play button and the arm moved over the disc. When it got to half way across, I unplugged the player in order to access the arm drive belt. I removed the belt and cleaned the 2 pulleys as both still had some goo on them from the original belt. I installed a new belt and pugged the player in. The arm then moved back to its rest position. When it reached the limit of its travel, it started oscillating with the arm drive motor still running. I found that the only way to stop the oscillating is to press the 2 fast forward buttons together followed by pressing the play button. At this point, the disc is in position to play and is still spinning. If I push the return button, the arm starts oscillating again.
Any ideas? _________________ Sears 934.54780150 & 934.54810350

what do you mean by oscillating? how do you mean " the arm oscillates " i dont understand how it can do that motion. you mean the drive motor that moves the arm is pulsing? _________________ (2)Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350), sft100, sgt250, sjt 090-400, vp550, VDR3000, VP2000 & 4000

"oscillating" means that the arm moves to its rest position then moves about 1/4" toward the disc, reverses direction, goes back to the rest position and repeats. The time is about 1 second between reversals. The arm drive motor is running in the same direction all this time.
I cleaned the pulley that the arm drive motor has as well as the pulley that is attached to the gear system. Could this have changed something that I am unaware of? _________________ Sears 934.54780150 & 934.54810350

I would check the play or reject? button and see if it needs cleaning or is stuck/broken. _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |
