The lubrication page in the F/G player service manual shows three lubricants.
Rykon 'O' grease, Omnilube 350 oil and Silicone grease. The J/K player service manual lists the Rykon and Omnilube.
Rykon 'O' is a multipurchase grease. It used on a CED player to lubricate: detents, cams and selected gears. The Rykon O 1980 formula we can no longer find. A tried and recommended replacement is White Lithium Grease. Available from CG electronics and other suppliers.
Omnilube 350 is a medium grade industrial oil with a slightly sticky feel. It is available in 1 gallon and larger containers. It is used on turntable bearings, and the turntable shaft. Also on motor bearings. A substitute is a good quality regular medium grade oil.

Sliding surfaces, such as the rod the stylus arm rides on can be lubed with drop or two of sewing machine oil.

CEDatum recommends that CED players be internally cleaned and re-lubed every five years.

I have a Sears player (934.54780150) that is slow when you insert a CED. The stylus moves to the start position very slowly and jerkily. If it takes too much time, the internal circuitry times out causing the stylus to be returned to its rest position. I was just wondering if a drop of oil on the linear bearing for the stylus would improve its performance.

I am interested in the type of oil to use.

FYI: This is NOT an RCA player,

About the Sears 150 player - made by Hitachi. I have carefully checked the Service Data for this model. There is no reference in the text or drawings about lubrication. Also no part number for an oil or grease.

If the pick-up arm assembly is jerky and slow, I suggest you lightly lubricate the front and back guides that the assembly travels on. Use sewing machine oil.

The pick-up arm is driven by a small belt - connected to a pulley on the pick-up motor. If the belt is slipping this will cause assembly movement problems.

I have some Singer All Purpose Machine Oil which I believe is what you are recommending. I will try lubricating the linear bearing first before I investigate the pick up arm belt.
