Which player do you have again? You need to take the lid off.

Well, duh, I need to read the title Smile

There are gears at the back that are driven to prepare the CED for reinsertion and the cartridge arm should be moving out of the way to it's resting position. What does it look like is happening? Does anything look bent or broken, is a belt slipping or off, broken?

Your model has manual insertion and removal, there is no motorized assistance on it. The slot is supposed to be open for loading and unloading however.

Since I would gather you really want that CED back in the caddy safe and sound DO NOT touch it (the stuff they sprayed on it is really fun to wash off anyway) and see if you can cycle it into eject mode with the gearing. At least that's what I remember and there is a section on it in Josh's binder from the CED Workshop or else it should be on the main site or in a thread here...I woke up just a few minutes back so I'll have to look or Ryan or Tony (the 420s) can step in here too.

Check the disc caddie for seam splits. The caddie will get stuck in the player on the side of the split.

Don't grease anything. Figure out the problem before you make a repair. You are dealing with Obsoleted equipment that has limited parts availability and therefore may not be as easily fixed...

That having been said it was a pretty good design in most instances.

if you have to manually move it, the old lube from the factory may have dried-up or got gooey and is making it too sluggish to operate. it shouldn't take too much effort to free it up.
