I have a Sears 934.54780150 player that is giving me some trouble and thought I would bounce my idea for its repair off this forum.
Symptom:
After inserting a disc, the stylus starts to come over to the play position; but, it is jerky and slow. Since it is slow, the internal circuity times out waiting for the video signal and commands the stylus to go back to the park position which it does.
My thesis:
I believe the linear bearing for the stylus needs lubrication. The last I knew the preferred grease is petroleum jelly. Both internal belts were replaced a couple of years ago and the player worked fine after the change.
Any ideas? Am I right in my thesis? _________________ Sears 934.54780150 & 934.54810350

dumb question, but did you try to help it along? its driven by a toothed belt, so it shouldn't slip but i think a low viscosity oil would be better, the jelly might be too thick, and will attract dust... i use blue creeper oil on my players, its pretty versatile and low viscosity _________________ (2)Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350), sft100, sgt250, sjt 090-400, vp550, VDR3000, VP2000 & 4000
