Hi all! Been a long time.
Tonight I turned on my CED player for the first time in several months. Popped in a disc, and there was a ton of skipping. Took the disc out and it really doesn't look all that bad, certainly not bad enough to cause near constant skipping. So, I tired another disc (Empire Strikes Back) and it played for about 5 minutes then it just stopped. The digital display goes to -- and the disc won't eject.
Took the top off of the player and checked it out. I've noticed that the disc will shift back and forth just a little, kind of wiggling. I've never encountered this before so I'm wondering if the turntable has gone bad or what? Could it simply be some of the little belts need replacing?
Thanks for any help. _________________ SKT-090 (in good working order) |

| Well I'm no expert on these things but here are some things I might try. First if you happen to have another stylus I would try that first. Could be that your is dirty or the fly lead broke on it, who knows. If you try another stylus and it does the same thing then I would try adjusting the platter height. There is a small hole in the bottom center of the player. You can use a small allen wrench, I forget the size the smallest one you can find usually, and turn a small screw inside the hole. If you can do this while it is playing and fine tune it to where it comes in the best with the least amount of skipping or static, then you have to use a disc that goes to 60 minutes and ff stopping every 10 minutes or so to make sure it still plays good. Hopefully it's one of those problems. You can try changing the belt but its just a load belt so it shouldn't affect playing the disc at all. If neither of those fix the problem then it's something more serious. Ryan or Tony could help you further. |
