|
|
Hi all!
What a great community here. Just won a working SGT-090 on ebay and have a few questions if ya don't mind
1 - The SGT-090 is an autoloader but only does mono sound correct?
2 - Where does one get a cartridge for it? Seller said its works great but wanted to have a replacement on stand by
3 - The SGT-090 only has cable style twist coax out. I have an HDTV but the antenna in is not being used (all things are HDMI) I can use that antenna in right? If not, how can you convert a single coax to a yellow red white composite?
Thanks all and looking forward to chatting with everyone about this fascinating device! |

the sgt did not come with a 90 designation, none of the sgt models are auto loaders. most likely you have an sjt 90 which is an auto loader. yes you can use the coax in on your television. you can convert coax to rca cables but you have to buy a converter that requires you to plug into the wall for power _________________ Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350),sft100,sgt250,sjt090,100,101,200,300,400,vp550, VP4000!

Ahh yes my mistake. The sjt-90 not the sgt haha.
Thanks for the info. Would you happen to know where to get one of those converters or have a link with what would work? Also, how long do the stylus's last for? Seller said it was a floor model that was not used very often and still plays movies just fine, but want to have one on standby just in case.
Again, thanks for the info!! |

as long as you dont put a sick disc in the player the stylus should last for several hundreds of plays, maybe 1000, we dont know for sure, but as long as a healthy disc goes in the player, it should last awhile. never touch the actual surface of the disc, even the oils from your finger will ruin the playback quality, sometimes discs have bits of dust on them and they will skip on playback, but mostly get better after several plays. never ever stack the discs flat, they can get compression damage.
if i were you, i would save my money and use the coax connection it came with at first.
also, this model player is supposed to be shipped with shipping locks which go in under either side of the front fascia panel, if they arent removed before the player is turned on it will break the player, if the player is shipped without the locks, the player can be damaged in shipping. just want to warn you. _________________ Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350),sft100,sgt250,sjt090,100,101,200,300,400,vp550, VP4000!

I've been seeing some NOS cartridges floating around ebay recently for $50. I too found a SJT-090 as my first player, the quality of the coax and mono audio steered me quickly into acquiring a sjt-300.
What you need is a RF demodulator to use AV cables, check Goodwill if you have one in your area, I come across radioshack models nearly every time i go. _________________ SJT-090, SJT-300 |

the only next thing i have seen people use is coarse thread hex head screws, one is bigger than the other though, its not the right thing to use, but it will stop the carrier from being misaligned during shipping. i dont know exactly what dimension of screw to use though... _________________ Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350),sft100,sgt250,sjt090,100,101,200,300,400,vp550, VP4000!

The shipping screws are available from CEDatum.com. The part number is 157606s for $2.25. Two screws are in the kit.
CEDatum also sells some parts for the RCA players and has styluses in stock. E-mail them for an updated service parts list. They also clean and rebuild styluses for all CED players. _________________ Sears 934-54780150 & 934.54810350,
