I recently sold a working Selectavision on eBay. The buyer emailed me after receiving it and said it wouldn't load the included disc past four inches, then emailed me a photo of what looked like a metal obtrusion with rubber bands around it possibly blocking insertion, as the culprit.

Any idea what this could possibly be?

Thanks in advance!

Guessing it's an autoloading because all you do is slip the videodisc in and remove the empty case. Not sure about shipping locks. I'm really not an expert on these things. I found it at a garage sale. I tested the player before sending it and it played, rewound and fast-forwarded, and loaded/unloaded smoothly. Plus I had it professionally packed before shipping it FedEx. If it is a common problem I'd like to give the buyers a fix. I'm gonna be out at least 75 dollars otherwise.

by autoloading, i mean the machine actually takes the caddy in and pushes it back out, all of the other models you have to manually push the caddy in and remove it.

here is a guide of all the players, in the picture it looks like and sft 100, or an sgt model... the kind with a big "lightswitch" on the right side.

It's super hard to tell but it looks like the underneath of the turntable. I think turntable belt is what looks like a rubberband. It looks like it is on an angle that it shouldn't be on. It is possible the turntable popped out of place during shipping and its stuck up, blocking the disc from going in. I would need better pictures with the top off Sad This is also assuming its a certain kind of player. I could be very wrong without more knowledge of the kind of player and a few pictures of problem Sad

Is that a view from the front of the player through the disc slot?

Okay, it's definitely not an autoloader then. And that is a photo of it through the slot. I'm going to have to ask for more photos from the buyer.

Is a dislodged turntable something that could be fixed easily?

A dislodged turntable can be very easy to fix but can also be tricky if any of the shaft bearings moved. Then it would be just a matter of lining them up with the shaft and puttin it in!
