So I just got a SGT-250 about three weeks ago and it was doing ok when playing and had a great picture as I put a new belt in it when I first got it then I was playing a stereo disc the other day and lost the left audio channel so I unloaded the disc and turned the player off to check the av plugs and when I turned the player back on I got a screen full of faint black lines on the TV when the player has no disc in it and when I play a movie I get the same wavy faint black lines and no sound at all now unless I put in a stereo disc and put the audio channel switch in the B setting then I get audio but it's very low. I also change the stylus and tried two other good stylus I have and get the same out come and have tried the stylus of the 250 in my 200 and it works just fine. Does any one have any idea what may have happened?

Yea some thing has failed. I asked John from CEDatum as well and he said it sounds like the 1.5Mh signal has failed on the main board so I have a SFT-100 that is a parts player but not sure if the main board with work with the 250 with the added load function and stereo audio.

I am surprised that was Johns diagnosis. Don't get me wrong he is 99 percent correct when figuring these things out. It just really sounds like the audio demodulator on the stereo board or even the video demodulator has gone bad. But do not forgot it could be something as simple as a weak solder joint which can happen! Do you have a service manual? That would allow you to check the voltages to at least narrow some things down.

Well the player had problems with the main board when I first got it some one at some time placed some thing heavy on top of the player and the main board has to be moved around to get the player to load or unload a disc or to stop playing and unload a disc. I don't have a service manual but am thinking about picking up from the Sams web page one of the thinks Tom has on Cedmagic.
