From what I have read it is darn near impossible to safely clean these discs without causing issues. Unless they are really dirty I find that just playing them a couple times usually knocks the gunk out of the grooves. There is a silicone coating on them that washing would remove. I have heard stories of using distilled water but that would be a do at your own risk idea in my opinion.

jeffs got it right, i have heard if you do use water to use very cold water, but if the disc is too dirty to play, its prolly better to find another copy

Right on. Most i have do really well. I got one was kinda bad but i noticed when i run it back through, it was a lot better. I guess you just gotta use them.
