| Was it just me or did most of those people seem slightly intoxicated. That could have had something to do with it. Such an odd video. |

That is so 1987 it's like a time machine, and ours is now my nurse practitioner's office.
I recognize EVERYTHING in there though. That's awesome, and the people look like 1987 too.

I love this sort of thing. I sometimes dream (literally) about traveling back in time to the 80's...was such an amazing decade. _________________ gamrz.com |

The 80s were a wee bit drunk at the time...also it possible that a few of his friends were in on it, and also at 2:30 in the morning in 1987 people weren't as uptight or was there any internet that this would get put on...
It would take hours to upload on an expensive 9600 baud line
No reliable format existed to watch it
There wasn't really an affordable way for fun loving college age kids to convert it TO upload it
However, as a 21 year old at the time I can vouch for the period authenticity, right down to the architecture and I can see the placement of the electrical boxes which corresponds to the layout of the former store which is now my nurse practitioner's office. I can't do this with our former Circle K store as it was taken down to the frame and completely rebuilt...
For my OPTOMETRIST'S office.
(One suspects I'm being told something by a higher force)
Oh well, it was a beauty salon before that and two people ran into the front of the building...it was destined to be an eye doctor's office...built in clientele potential.
Thank you for that wonderful aside, Dude...I'm as old as a middle aged walnut tree and I appreciated it
(now I can't get We Are The World out of my head for some reason) |

| I know this post is a few weeks old but i just had to say i completely agree with Dude111. A far better time before all the ipods, ipads, crappy grammar, and facebook (facecrap). Yes people were friendlier back the because they actually socialized with one another. Their idea of socializing now is staying home and talking on (facecrap). Nothing will ever be the same as it was. They call it "progress" or "evolution" but its not. There was some talk awhile back on another forum about the "de-evolution" of people as we know it. Our children are carrying cell phones around, texting, listening to ipods like zombies. Say something to them and if you do get an answer, it'll be "huh". Grammar has took a downslide. What are the schools teaching them? Everything is "lol" or "lmao" and "dis" instead of "this" or "dat" instead of"that". Makes many teenager sound like babies when they say "Hey, check dis out!". |

I remember when we had Walkmen playing cassettes, boomboxes and a bi-amped car stereo was cool. Our grandparents thought those little transistor radios would make their kids mindless zombies.
The truth is that if you are going to be a zombie you will get there and probably look to your friends for tips.
Eventually you grow up and get old and overwhelmed like your folks did.
Nothing new about that. As a cultural frame of reference though it was delightful to those of us who lived during that time and understand it's relevance. |

I agree about the grammar that is used today. I am in my 6'th decade of existence and I am appalled at how it is used. My english teacher (Mrs. Ames) would have crucified you if you started a sentence with "And". She would have said if you needed to use an 'and" then you should attach it to the preceding sentence. The use of a singular verb when you are referring to more than one predicate noun was FORBIDDEN. I don't know what the teachers are telling their students. I remember having my speech corrected in 2'nd and 3'rd grade when I would use a word incorrectly (i.e. Can I instead of May I). The last thing I will say is that too many fail to capitalize the first word of a sentence and do not use periods at the end of sentences. What do today's employers think of their new hires?
Well, this is enough of my rant for today. Everyone should watch their grammar. _________________ Sears 934-54780150 & 934.54810350,

Being 48 this month reminds me I watched my grammar everyday on the Electric Company
ST......OP
STOP
I didn't have any children, however. It would be too hard to teach them correctly and find $1.39 for a hamburger.
Oh well, that's what Yahoo! is for-gladiator commenting!
Do remember they have to bury us someday and make sure they have that figured out.
Boy, have we digressed in the context of an off topic post |

All of those things were cool but the only thing i had was a boombox and i never walked around with it over my shoulder. I still use cassettes though. I prefer them over todays downloading of music. Usually cheaper too. |
