Most people who are familiar with the history of the CED format know what happened on this day 30 years ago. On Wednesday, 4 April, 1984, RCA permanently shut down production of CED players, which meant the end of the format. It was phased out over the next 2 years, 2 months, and 23 days. It was very disappointing for RCA & every one who worked on CED, but fortunately, with all of us on here, the format is remembered & "lives on."

On that day I was little more than a month away from graduating high school and I had no idea CEDs existed. It's sad that barely three years transpired between it's consumer introduction and this sad date...how time does fly whether we want it to or not.
