| Hello fellow collectors, most of you already know but I'm trying to clear out all my extra discs. I've managed to get rid of almost half but shipping them is killer. I'd like to give the rest away to anyone willing to come get them. Nothing super special or anything, mostly common titles. At least to me anyways. I can always throw in a player or two to sweeten the deal. Let me know when you'd like to pick them up. I just wanted to give my fellow collectors a shot before I threw them on craigslist. Thanks. |

I'm nowhere near Mankato and I doubt my brother would come from Litchfield...You know I'm primarily interested in music-related titles. Please email me. _________________ A New Vista of RCA Victor COLOR! |

I have been recently researching CED and stumbled onto this forum. I would be honored if you would share your collection with me, and any knowledge you have as well! Your offer of a player would be super helpful because I am really starting from scratch. I live in Saint Paul and have no problem driving to Mankato, my wife was looking for a nice day trip anyway. If this offer is still available I would be thrilled to give your extra bits a good home!
I am always available and am pretty much retired so I am very flexible. Anyway, let me know. Thanks!

PS I am completely new to this format, I saw a program that I really enjoyed when I was younger and it is only out on CED or VHS. I thought I would look into CED, and here I am. I like to collect audio visual electronics and game consoles. Thanks again.

| Well Mayor West, first off let me welcome you to the wonderful world of CED. It's always great to hear of new interest in the hobby, especially somewhat local. I've been collecting for over 3 years now and have somewhere in the neighborhood of 3,000 discs and a dozen players. I just recently started clearing out all my extras. I gave away about 300 discs to fellow collectors on facebook. If your on Facebook I recommend joining the CED pages, should be 3 of them. But it was such a pain shipping that many discs and I still have more than that left so I was hoping to get someone to pick them up. I emailed a couple collectors that are close and posted this thread. One of the collectors I emailed, Nate, said he would be interested in coming to get them and I already told him that would be great. But I'm sure if I asked him he wouldn't mind leaving you a few titles and I can hook you up with a player if you still need one. You might also want to get in touch with Guy Harrison he lives in St. Paul and owns a antique shop. He mostly deals in laserdisc but does have a small CED collection and I know he just recently acquired a player. He might be able to help you out. His store is called Toy Freakz at 1817 Selby Ave St. Paul. I don't have his number or email on hand but I can get it to you. There is also a fellow collector in Rosemont named Chris, I think he is also more into the laserdiscs but has a large CED collection as well and I'm pretty sure he has extras too. I can get you his email as well ifi can find it. It was great to meet you so to speak and I was curious what that one movie/show is that reintroduced you to CED? I will talk to Nate and see what he has to say. I know he has extras as well so he might even be able to bring some for you. I'll talk to him. Thanks. |

Thanks for getting back to me. Like I said this is a completely new thing for me, but I do remember seeing these at the video store we went to growing up. I was always assumed they were laserdiscs that were really hard to get out of their boxes! Oh youth.
The title that set this all in motion is The Great Space Coaster Supershow. It was one of my favorite shows and unfortunately this is the only show out of the 250 to be available on any media.
The antique store you mention is fairly close to me and will give it a look. Because I have no clue what I am doing at this moment about CED, I have so many questions. I saw your offer and thought it would be a great way to 'hit the ground running' so to speak. Totally cool that your friend is picking up your stuff, maybe you could direct me towards a player or what to look for? I haven't explored this site completely but assume there is some kind of beginners guide...
Thanks and let me know what your friend has to say. |

Hello again Mayor West,
I'm not really sure if there is a guide for beginners but just keep looking at the CED Magic website and feel free to ask any questions on the forum here. You can search previous threads with the search function if you have questions about a specific topic it may have already been talked about.
The Great Space Coaster is a pretty hard one to find. It shows up now and then but is usually pricey. I got lucky and got ahold of a still sealed one for a good price. If I come across another I will let you know.
If you do check out that store you should be able to just ask for Guy or he might be working the counter even. He's a big dude with a zz top beard. Otherwise if you want to send him an email or give him a call it's guy.harrison@comcast.net 612-839-7067. He should be able to answer a lot of questions you may have as well. He's a big movie buff so he will talk your ear off on the classics, lol.
I got ahold of Nate and he said he would be happy to let you have all the extras that I have doubles of and he said he has a lot of doubles he can give to you as well when he comes to get the others. He said he could come up this weekend or next weekend. I can let you know when he settles on a date if you want to come at the same time, which would probably work best.
I counted today and I actually have over 500 extra discs that I was giving away with lots of duplicates. I also have another 150 or so more collectable or harder to find discs that I was saving for trades or to sell. I've got several players as well. You can take a look at them and see if there are any specific one your interested in. I don't think I have any extra in the way of Stereo players but a half dozen different mono players.
Well that's about it for now really. Your welcome to come down and check everything out any time you want. I'd be happy to show you my collection and get you started with a player and some discs, you don't have to wait for Nate. If you want to give me a call or text it 507 380 3787. Talk to you later. |

Sorry for not getting back sooner, and thanks for the contact info. I got pretty ill for a week and a half and didn't get around much. I did, however, from the comfort of my sick bed find a copy of The Great Space Coaster on ebay. The price was $25 with shipping, and came with 3 Superman titles. I have no idea if that was reasonable or if they even work at this point! I thought it may be fun to just roll the dice.
I was planning on talking to your friend at the antique store, Guy, about them and player options. Also, if I could pick yours or the forums brain that would be excellent. Anyway, just wanted update and let you know I didn't disappear and once I feel full strength I'll probably be chewing ears off right and left! Thanks again. |

Sorry to hear you were under the weather, but I'm glad you pulled through. Since I didn't hear from you I figured you didn't want any of the discs I was giving away and my buddy from IA came up and got them all. I still have some players if you are interested. Guy should be able to answer most of your questions and might even have a player to sell you as well. Anywho, can't wait to hear all the great questions. Thanks. |
