Hey,
This request goes out to anyone/everyone on the forum.
I'm looking for full-resolution screen captures of some films that were released to CED. See, I'm interested in comparing the versions on CED and other formats with the current DVD releases, to see how far these films have come in quality of presentation.
Anyway, here are my requests:
The Wizard of Oz
Gone With the Wind
American Graffiti
Lawrence of Arabia
The Adventures of Robin Hood
Star Wars
That's all I'm interested in seeing for now...if anybody can provide these pictures, and put them online, I'd appreciate it.
(Also, if anybody has any other VHS, LD, or Beta releases of the above films as well, I'm interested in screens corresponding to whichever frames you decide to capture from the CED version.) |

Is there any way to upload pictures on this forum? I could record whatever scenes you want to see onto my DVD recorder then use that to put up the stills, but I'm a little inept in posting graphics on other forums.
I've got both the original DiscoVision laserdisc release of American Graffiti and the letterboxed reissue also. When I first got Wizard Of Oz on CED I A/B compared it with the then-brand-new Ultimate Oz laserdisc, the difference was pretty striking. I still need to bring myself to watch Lawrence Of Arabia one of these days just to see how bad the pan-and-scan is. I'll confess that part of the thrill I get out of CEDs is the primitive video transfers on many titles, even though on my system they look and sound as good as they can possibly get.
On that note, anyone have a vote for worst video transfer on CED? One of the worst I've seen is Network- there is a TON of smearing in that! "Charly" is pretty bad too, just from the amount of panning and scanning- the opening credits actually pan back and forth so you can read them all! _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |
