Is anyone here watching the retro ABC television show The Goldbergs? I'm curious about whether it has ever shown a CED player in the background. A preview on TV today for the March 4 episode shows a re-enactment of The Goonies, so it looks like the series is set in 1985. In the preview the living room entertainment console is shown with vintage TV, receiver, and 8-Track player. I wonder if they have anything in the closed cabinet under the TV?

Freaks and Geeks was a similar show back in 1999 that aired on NBC with 18 episodes being produced. The show was set chronologically in the 1980-1981 school year and the series creator was on the Internet seeking technology suggestions for the show. Unfortunately it got canceled shortly before CED would have existed in March 1981. One of the last episodes concludes with the new Vice President George Bush appearing at a school assembly.

Seriously one of my favorite new shows! I love Jeff from curb and the mom from reno 911! I wonder if they will show a ced player in the background ever? I haven't seen one but it could be there some where! Haha we can only dream!

I've been watching it since the beginning of the season. It is a great retro show. However, one thing which is very tough to watch initially is that it is not chronological. They seem to jump all around the 80's. Once you get used to that it is a really great show.

There is a lot of details on the sets particularly posters in the kids rooms. I have not noticed a CED player though. There is the older style top loading VCR in many episodes.

I remember there was s spin off of That 70's Show called That 80's Show but it only lasted a couple of seasons. If ever there was a show to feature a CED player that would have been it.
