Hello everyone, I'm new to the CED scene. Never knew these existed until I managed to snag a CED copy of Dr. Strangelove. My SFT100W is displaying some wavy distortion and color-loss to the picture but the audio is fine. From what I've read, it might be that my belts need to be replaced. Here is a video if it helps what I'm trying to describe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdqYaI_VOWM
Thanks for the forum, Lots of good info here!

Caused by improper turntable speed!
First thing you can do is the basic service and if that doesn't fix it there are other solutions.
Basic servicing means belt cleaning/replacing and oiling the turntable and turntable motor bearings, greasing gears and the like. This solves the problem most of the time. I suggest cleaning, lubing and shrinking belt before you buy belts unless you just want some back ups!

That is a basic tear down. It is not as easy to put back together your first time. I can post more pictures of what to do after this if its something you think you can do! Or want to do! _________________ I dont own

Thanks for the tip and the disassembly video! I ended up cleaning the turntable belt with ammonia and cleaned off the needle. The picture is back to normal! Now I can focus on building my collection |
