First is first, huge thanks to Josh aka ketonic! My god man, what a find and thank you for letting it go!!! I feel like I drank way too much pop like when I was a kid, I need to just run around and spazz out for a bit haha!!
*edit.. I forgot to say this but I feel it needs be up here. I received a metal pulley, bore reducer, and belt from Alex! aka A.J.'s Video Recyclery some time ago before he passed away. I had one set before that and put it on my 550. I wasn't sure what to do with the set he gave me at the time, especially considering the other toshiba's can take a grooved pulley. I am very glad though that I saved it so I could say that Alex can kinda live on in memory in one of the rarest players! He did a ton for the community disc wise and sold tons of players too! He was a huge reason many got addicted to ced's haha! Good guy for sure!
I will take a Zenith "family" picture later haha!
For now here is some video!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_ywQNllZDg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8WFm4HpzUM Trust me take the top off of any toshiba and try to load it one handed, you'll have fun hahah!!
I'd post pictures but I only managed one haha the box on the table before I fixed it. I forgot to take any pictures while working on it, was way to jazzed up!
If Tom doesn't say whether or not his works, does that make mine the only working zenith vp4000 on video? Or known working vp4000? For now at least
The more I look at this player the more I love it! It seems to be a really cleaned up toshiba, layout wise. Even more so than the 500 and 550. They put the top board on the right side now so you don't have that clunkly board in the way to service the belts! Its like how the hitachi players started getting way lighter and the parts were getting downsized. I know it seems like they started making the hitachi's as cheap as they could but they weight is so much less from first gen to their last effort player! I love how empty the newer hitachi models looked! This feels the same way but a toshiba!
I will be testing the remote on the toshiba 550 for the hell of it! They look they exact same!
I have yet to see or hear of anyone removing a tt from any toshiba. Does anyone know how? I'd love to be able to get underneath the tt on all my toshiba's to get any remaining hidden belt goo there could be.

It will be awesome I promise. A boxed vp2000, boxed vp4000, service disc with actual box, and a surprise item!

He did that with people who bought more than 3 or so I think but awesome thing to do either way!

I removed the two screws and all it does is let the metal part that raises the tt release from the tt. I cant pull it off after those screws are removed

| Looks amazing Ryan. I'm so glad you got it working and so fast too. A kid in a candy store I guess. I'm really surprised Tom has not weighed in on all this. He must be on hiatus right now. He will certainly be surprised when he does check the board. He didn't post any pictures of a remote with his, I think if he had one he probably would have. So I'm guessing you could very well have the only VP4000 remote left on earth, and yes probably the only working unit as of right now. Tony has agreed to purchase the other VP4000 so he will probably need your help in getting it up and running, Ryan. I'm so glad these went to good homes. As much as I would love to have kept one I'm not really in to collecting the machines so much, just the discs. Although you'd never know that by looking at my stack of machines in the garage. I really need to start getting rid of them as well. Anyways the video's look great Ryan. I guess I'll have to find a Penny's unit for you next, lol. Or maybe even some obscure unit no one has heard of yet, lol. Kinda hard to top a VP4000. |

Try removing the turntable on a junk Wards or Toshiba first. Or doesn't any service literature exist that shows it? Tom, what do you know about this turntable removal?
Now, guys, don't forget I am looking for one as well, for future reference, please. |

It was actually 3 chassis, SJT 090 & SJT 101 & SJT 300. Of course none had the front panels. The 101 would need a whole new insides, as it was just unrepairable from damage. But I do have the back cover for it.
That Zenith 4000 is a dream machine. I always though the Toshiba design was the best and sturdiest of all, and this one is a real improvement on that initial design.
So, now I must get one to hook up to the Sony XBR CRT, to replace the Wards. Keep your eyes open, fellows, please. |

Tony, would you be interested in a SJT 101 that used the insides of a 100 to get it into working shape? I know it's not exactly correct.
Kitchen, I did use parts from the 300 to make the stereo SJT 090. |

you have the fascia of the 101 that says "demonstration model" ? its not critical that it has the return function, because i think all of the players have it programmed in them, just the 101 is always activated to keep playing the a side of a disc... _________________ Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350),sft100,sgt250,sjt090,100,101,200,300,400,vp550, VP4000!

No, I didn't get that part. Too bad because, even if the face was damaged, that part with the nomenclature could have been swapped I think. |

Here is the guide to replace the belts. Its actually easier on the stereo toshiba chassis'! http://cedmagic.com/tech-info/toshiba-pulley/toshiba-pulley.html
Tom's store is closed at the moment so you will have to wait on the servo and the loading belts till he is back.
Here is the 3 parts you will need from this store
https://sdp-si.com/eStore/Catalog
S1086Y-PC-05
A 7A30-250312
A 6R11-04084
You will have to look up the part/catalog number for each part.
You can also try the grooved pulley method from cbertra. He says you need a metal pulley for the topshiba 550 but not the 100 or 500. I have only tried the metal pulley on the 4000 and the 550 so I have no idea if the 4000 can take the grooved pulley! _________________ I dont own

i was actually going to try to cut a new pulley out of aluminum, i was going to over size it, and then cut a groove to the depth of the outside diameter of the original pulley... what should i use for a belt if i go that route? im going to try a standard belt with the stock pulley for now to see how it goes... thanks for the help! _________________ Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350),sft100,sgt250,sjt090,100,101,200,300,400,vp550, VP4000!
