So one small issue I have been having as of late is trying to find a way to play certain mono players on my modern tv. The main issue is that I have 2 players (an SFT 100 and an SJT 90) that will not play properly on my modern tv. Both players do not have RCA style video jack ports but instead work on the old coax style screw in cable. I have found that all my other players (mostly stereo) that work off the RCA style cables (red, yellow, white) work perfectly on the modern televisions but these two players for whatever reason just show a skipping pictue when hooked up. When I hook these 2 players up to an old tv, they work perfectly. Has anyone else experienced this or have any insight? Just curious....

CEDatum designed a kit to add a Video and Mono audio RCA connectors to RCA CED players that only provide a Ch3/4 coax output . The modification consists of module installed in the player and RCA connectors added to the back panel of the player. The mod provides superior performance to any external coax booster or signal processor. The most recent build of the AV module was made by BlindFury. He can install the kit.

WHat you describe is a common issue with CED players, especially those with only RF out. Even the AV output will have this same problem on some newer TV sets.

I use a Hitachi AVC unit to convert the signal from analog to digital HDMI. It can also convert both analog RF channel 3 or 4 or AV output. This solved the problem of weak signal and its effect.

Our other two sets are CRT, so no problem with them.

All of my sets are analog and I have three CRT projectors. My problems have all been with the Extron VGA converter I wanted to send the computer video out to the TVs with and project it...I ended up with a double image on the computer's CRT monitor at the time and took it off for fear of damaging the computer's video.

Every pc of my own, that I built since 2004 has been connected to one to two tv's! I used to use s-video from the back of the video card to the tv, Then just run sound to whatever receiver I had. It's way easier now because most video cards have hdmi or display ports out. Letting you connect to newer lcd and led tv's. While still having 2 dvi outs. Still wouldn't help your crt connection problem though :/

This is a Dell Dimension 2350 and as such is a piece of junk and I couldn't get an ATI Radeon 9250 PCI going on it (BIOS doesn't seem to even be much help), no AGP of course, no PCI-e and I'm trying to get video on my Asus with dual SLI and quadcore AMD 939 but I tried to redo it to get the endless wiring down and the LEDs out that were in the case and only advertised it in the window in a bad neighborhood...

Needless to say I think I flummoxed the GeForce 7800.

I am seriously considering getting an SFT-100,those are MONO right??

I did see one disturbing thing when I was @ my friends place today that has a bunch of videodiscs for sale!

On the movie "GONE WITH THE WIND" it says "Digitally enhanced for stereo" -- Kind of upsetting, you wont get true analogue sound from this wonderful movie EVEN ON VIDEODISC Sad (Unless there is a MONO copy of this movie out there)

I saw alot of other movies also, thankfully none of them had anything about digital!!

Poltergiest
Rocky

Those 2 I would most likely get if I could get myself an SFT-100!

Yes, mono. They aren't bad, if you want stereo you have to look for the SGT 200/250 etc.

Did you ever get this resolved? I had to really dumb down my video card settings when I used to connect to CRT monitors or sets. Hertz and the refresh rate needed the most adjustment, also pixel depth and size. Sorry if I am preaching to the band, it just helped me out. Very Happy

I haven't gotten back to either of them but I also have S-video outputs on a couple of my computers and I can patch them into my RF modulator switchers.

If it was me I would go hit Goodwill or some other thrift store. They usually have piles of the coax to rca converters for sale. I saw one a couple weeks ago still in the box for $5. I used to have a couple for video games but they are long gone or I'd offer it to you.

I've got a friend I'll be getting one of two stereo players from at some point this year...after the vintage Pioneer cassette deck, analog tuner and reel to reel and a receiver (hey, it's my birthday this month).

I already have autoswitching 4-input RF modulators.
