With CED Pro ( Darrell) now retired who is offering full service on CED players including repairs of player electronics ? I offer this service for the CEDatum CED hobby group. We are located in Indiana. Is there anyone on the east or west coast who does this work ?

The RCA player service manuals include useful fault finding charts. CEDatum still stocks many electronic parts including all the player IC's.
Time to step forward guys and support the hobby

I am more Midwest than East coast (Michigan). I have manuals for every rca player. I am also in contact with John pretty much daily. I constantly do fp rebuilds that are of your design! I also make the rca output boards for you guys! There is the possibility of selectavision420 (Maryland?) on the East coast and rixrex (California) on the West coast, although rix said he doesn't do electronic repairs other than board swapping.

I was way, way too busy this summer to do much of anything, when I didn't work I was out on my pontoon or lil ski boat on the lake! Can you blame me? haha. My sandal tan only went away about a month ago hahah. I should be good till this summer again when I have to work again.

I have an old friend of my Dad's locally who does all the electronics whenever that crops up. Since I always left that to my Dad before, I never was involved much with that, doing all of the mechanical repairs on the CEDs, VCRs and LDs for him, doing pickup and delivery, and putting up antenna towers in the old days of over-air analog TV.

I'm considering doing more electronics now that the buddy is older and wants to cut down his hours, and has a shop full of equipment and knowledge to share. Still, we can take care of those types of issues here regardless.

i live in connecticut, i am probably the least qualified of all of us, but i have fixed F/G players J/K players and my sears/ hitachi player. i have a ton of service literature, as well as rca service tools, and the mono and stereo service alignment service test disc... i am learning as i go, and i was extremely lucky to get the sjt-400 service education program from CEDPRO and it really helps explain the different boards and their processes... but i digress, the post office is the number one reason why players break, right behind insufficent packing, and lack of shipping locks (if so equipped) so its really tricky to try to help someone knowing that the player could end up worse...

Word, I didn't mean to throw anyone under the bus or volunteer them. Just the names that came to my mind that would even want to possibly fix players!

Plus you've proven your abilities with those VCRs, in my opinion.

The shipping is a headache for sure. But I find most collectors will pay for the better packing that it takes to ship these back, if they arrive to you in good shape that is.
