Do you have to remove the top washer on the spindle to remove the turntable? It did not say on the troubleshooting instructions on this site.

No, the top washer (clip) only holds the spindle center and spring in place. The turntable will lift out with all of that still on it. The only reason to remove it is if you need to put the parts onto another turntable.
Watch out for the thrust plate washer that sits on the bottom of the turntable stem. You cannot see it until you take out the turntable. It can do one of four things:
1. Stick on the stem bottom due to sticky lubricant
2. Stay in the stem hole (best thing, but usually doesn't happen)
3. Drop off the stem into the player, or on the table or floor
4. Stick to the magnetic ring under the platter. Typical, since the ring is very strong.
The player can operate without the washer, but it's better to have it back in proper position.
Returning the turntable to the player is not hard, but you MUST make sure that a turntable slot is situated right over the disc lift rod, aka transfer rod, to ensure the rod lifts into place without catching on the platter, and snapping the pivot pin. Even experienced CED folks have made this mistake. |

also bear in mind that the washer/spacer is about the diameter of a pencil, and about 3/32 thick i think, so it can get lost easy _________________ Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350),sft100,sgt250,sjt090,100,101,200,300,400,vp550, VP4000!

| Right, it is small and dark too. Just lift the turntable out slowly and you should be okay. If the washer comes out and you get it, it might be a bit magnetized, as usual. In that case, when you return it to the stem hole, to set it in place flat and not on end, use something like a chopstick to tap it down flat, a thin long piece of wood or plastic. A screwdriver will only bring it back out of position due to magnetism |

| Ok I successfully removed the turn table, that was easy then expected. The infamous washer you talk about, came out and stuck to the outside of the shaft. I used small tweezers and put it back in the hole. Now to just wait till the mail brings the replacement and pop it in and let the fun begin. Ill make sure Disc lift rod is ok |

i was thinking, do you have a drill of any sort? i wonder if you could feel the wobble of the turntable if you put the shaft in the arbor of the drill and spun it up to a relative speed... _________________ Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350),sft100,sgt250,sjt090,100,101,200,300,400,vp550, VP4000!

Yeah, the wobble should be apparent if you do that.
Of course, hand spinning it in the player while observing from the side can give a clue as well. But the drill will get it up to speed. |

Player works great not no shaking
Just wondering I have a ced when I inserted it could not eject the caddy. The whole thing got stuck in player
Everyother disc worked find, just this would get stuck and had to manually eject it. |

Yeah, feels good
Thanks for everyone s help and cedatum
The ced that got stuck was just a minor issue. The top of the caddy where the seam is was separated a little. I just put some tape on it and does not get jammed anymore |

cool im glad that worked out! some older caddys will get hung up inside of the auto loading style players. i had a copy of robin williams new in cellophane and my j-300 wouldnt take it, it kept getting hung up, but my sgt-250 played it fine... something about the caddy lock tabs got changed slightly i think? _________________ Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350),sft100,sgt250,sjt090,100,101,200,300,400,vp550, VP4000!

| If the seam is split where the caddies are glued together they will hang up in the SJT, SKT players. This happened to me twice and the loading mechanism will not stop running even when you try to turn it off. I have to unplug the player and remove the top so I can unjam the caddie. So now I always check the top two corners of the caddie for splits. |
