|

Hello all!
I'm new here, but I have been lurking for a while, and I think some of you guys can help me out!
I have a few CED (5 total) and about half of them are skipping heavily, but they do so in the same manner : the first 15 mins of both sides are generally ok, but around the 17 minutes mark, they start skipping heavily. Now I inspected the discs visualy while in the player and at rest, and can't see any marks on the discs that would suggest that they have been scrached or abused. Can this be damage caused by stacking CED in piles? I tried playing the skipping disc a few time to see if it would get rid of the skipping, but it didn't.
Any ideas?
Thanks! |

That's what I was afraid of...this really sucks, because all of my CED comes from ebay and there is no way to tell if they still work. Now I have to find another copy of Blade Runner and Alien...two of my favorite movies. The CED skips so much for those two that they are unwatchable.
If anyone is interested in selling me 2 good copies of those title let me know.
Thanks all, and Happy New Year! |

Yep, the incorrect stacking of CEDs cause exactlyu that sort of damage. because it isn't until the stylus is closer to the center of the disc that you'll see it. Edges tend to remain okay since they don't flex enough to allow the compression of the grooves.
If those are ebay discs, maybe you can get partial refund.
If you want good copies of Alien & Blade Runner, I have those extra. You can use the email button below to contact directly. |

i applaud you for checking the discs before playing them, sometimes they dont look ruined, but i have a copy of allegro non troppo that i had to play no joke about 10 times before it played right... but i have some discs that are obviously stacked on, you can see the little speck scratches in the middle of the disc... _________________ Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350),sft100,sgt250,sjt090,100,101,200,300,400,vp550, VP4000!

I always check the disc before I play them, because I don't want to send my stylus for repair every time I stick a dud in my player! And given the fact that they don't make new part for those player anymore, I want to stretch out the ones we got for as long as possible! I'll try playing my disc a few more time, but I'm not holding my breath!
Thanks Rixrex, PM sent! |
