im pretty sure there are at least a few collectors over in the UK, be patient they dont pop in here as often, they really arent worth much, especially since they wont work on an american player, but it would be sad if you tossed them out. if shipping wasnt so much id buy some of them just to have...

What is this size of your discs? Could you post a picture of one of your discs?

Oh and Welcome to CEDmagic!!!! I for one would love to know your titles. Can you email me a list? Beetlescott@msn.com? Put CED in the subject line.

You have the same thing with laserdiscs and CDs. A constant velocity playback is going to have the same inner groove diatortion troubles as a phonograph LP record I would think and then there is a matter of playing time.

They'll be in black and white and flicker as well and I think the audio carrier is at the other end of the signal (comes first)? The phase of every other line is alternated (flipped), the frame rate is just under 25 Hz to correspond with line frequency and there are 100 more scan lines than NTSC.To view the discs correctly on a PAL player with an NTSC set the signal must be converted electronically. Sets that did this were mostly more expensive multi-standard monitors aimed at professionals or outside the continent where multiple standards are sometiems found in one COUNTRY, let alone neigboring ones.

In the olden days of (BBC-Marconi) System A at 405 lines the US experimental electronic systems in use in the US were closer to them but not much over if at all...the Philco 343-line system comes to mind, and without color (or COLOUR, we should say) it was easier to adjust sets for these parameters.

Since UHF Colour service skipped the VHF and any channels used in System A to allow for what had to be the longest transition in broadcasting history-18 years until complete shutdown-PAL players also output to a UHF frequency and I'm not certain it directly corresponds with US channels, either broadcast or any of the cable TV standards for channel placement (does it)?

A Pal disc in an NTSC player should just not display anything, and visa versa.

A Pal disc in a Pal player on an NTSC only set will display the effect of flicker and B&W, or even rolling image.

However, most modern newer HD TVs, LCD, LED and Plasma, will display either PAL/Secam or NTSC, as they are designed with circuitry to transform the analog video into digital form for the display screen. The HD formats being world standards, and since the sets are meant for worldwide ditribution and sales, it's much easier to just put in the necessary internals to accept both PAL/Secam and NTSC, than to have separate manufacturing setups for this part of the build.
