Anyone here who is in the UK might be interested in this collection:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/216-laser-discs-and-non-working-player-CED-VIDEODISCs-/251358600923

There's 216 discs, which is getting close to the total number released on PAL.

Says player doesn't work, but that might just be a belts or stylus issue.

That would be a great start to getting the entire collection of PAL discs. If no two of these are repeats than it's only missing 57 titles according to the CED Magic database. That's less than I'm missing from the NTSC catalog. Shipping on something like this to the US would be brutal though. Probably a couple thousand dollars as just a player runs from $200-$400 to ship from the UK. I did find it interesting on the CED Magic database it states than there are no two disc PAL titles. Since they played at a lower Mhz they could hold 150 minutes per disc and all the titles released were less than that. Very cool.

Right, that's a great start on getting them all. A purchaser would have to arrange shipping in a different way from the normal shipping methods, eg, on an ocean freighter as a crate. That would be about 1/4 of postal shipping rates.

There could have been very, very few USA NTSC double discs had the plan not stuck to the standard 12" LP audio disc size. If the disc had been 13" instead of 12", then there would have been enough room for an additional 30 mins overall, giving allowance to films up to 2 1/2 hrs long.

That would have also meant a larger caddy and a larger player by about an inch each way approximately, but not a big deal. The reason the design was kept at 12" was due to the popularity and familiarity of 12" disc media, and there was no certainty as to how much time of video would eventually fit on each side once the product was perfected.
