please note my updated stats are posted after all the comments of this post the pictures in this post are older...
so i broke down and finally bought another shelf to better help me organize all my discs. although im still thinking about how ill fine tune my collection, im about 60-80 discs from my goal, but in the mean time how i organized my discs allowed me the ability to have a visual statistic. i thought this was pretty neat so ill share these pics and some stats with them!

except for music, and stereos in a white caddy, and 2 or 3 stereo vestrons, all my stereos are in this shelf, and only rca discs are on the bottom row

total mgm/ua=16
total warner home=15
total mca=14
total cbs/fox=21
other=62
total stereo discs in shelf=128
total mono rca titles on bottom=150
total amount of discs in shelf=277

this is my non rca shelf ( although you will see that the bottom left cube has a small columbia/rca section ) it contains my cbs/fox, mgm/ua, vestron, embassy, paramount, mca, and warner home video

total cbs/fox=87
total mgm/ua=57
total vestron=36
total vestron stereo=4
total embassy=16
total embassy stereo=1
total paramount=9
total mca=11
total warner home video=11
total rca/ columbia=19
total in shelf=251

skipping to my living room, the rest of my mono rca releases are here, as well as my interactive discs, and holocaust box set

total mono titles=80
total interactive titles=5
total in shelf=85

and the recent purchase is my "special" shelf it has all my "rca other" discs, my stereos in a white caddy, my stereo music, and my other titles like king tut, and julia childs, and making of star wars etc. the middle shelf is cartoons, and the bottom shelves are series like star trek, and basically anything with more than 2 parts.

total white caddy stereo=21
"other" top shelf mono=13
"other"top shelf stereo=3
stereo music=25
cartoons=44
stereo cartoons=4
series discs=53
stereo series discs=13
total stereo discs=41
total mono discs=151
total in shelf=192

total stereo discs=178
total mono discs=627
total discs=805

these numbers are discs not titles. there are less titles than discs but i wanted to know how many discs i had more than i wanted to know how many titles i have and im sure there is a one to 3 disc plus or minus error lol[/b]

Looks great Tony, So do you have your extra discs or duplicates out in the garage organized in any particular order as well and do you have a count on them as well.

I would love to have a place where I could put all my discs in one room (cement floor required) and get some of the Ikea 25 cube shelves and organize them all alphabetically like the CED Magic database. It would make it so much easier to find a particular title, especially when I will have 1700 plus titles.

But keep up the good work, and have you updated your list of discs your still looking for recently? I may have some. Thanks.

the ones i have in the garage are organized by box number order which mirror the list, stereo separated from mono, i dont really have many dupes im not sure what to do with them yet...

for some reason i can remember which has what release company with the movie title so it seems easier to me to group them by release, so that way if i forgot i could look on the visual database and then refer to whatever section from there, although this prolly wont work on a complete catalog as easily, although it would be sweet to see every fox together every mgm/ua etc, actually all of my mgm/ua's i put in number order to see the order of title releases

as for my want list its always up to date (:
i still owe you part 2 of pollyana and the bostonians i think too!

I'm jealous of your complete set of the Holocaust 4 disc set. I have it too, but disc 4 was dropped in mud and so I've never played it, and can't locate a replacement.

so as time went on i decided i needed to further break down my mono discs by release company to include warner, columbia, united artists, and some others.
the number code is discs/titles so if you see 48/41 i have 48 discs but due to some being 2 discs its really 41 titles.

okay so my living room cabinet now holds:
Left side: thorn/emi 8/8
new world video/ pictures 4/4
orion 2/2
vid america 1/1
charter 1/1
filmways 4/4
RKO 3/2
ALMI 1/1
pre cbs/fox, 20th century 10/9
united artists 31/26
left side total 65/58

Right side: Warner 48/41

total in living room cabinet: 113/99

Shelf 1:

mgm/ua 61/50
fox/ cbs 86/76
vestron 48/46
embassy 17/17
MCA 25/22
columbia 45/40

total in shelf 1: 282/251

shelf 2 is a bit tricky because it holds 5 categories; white caddy stereo, rare/HTF, stereo music, cartoons, and series/other (ie: 007 movies, and nat-geo discs, non movies like mary tyler moore an mr. rogers)

White caddy stereo: Embassy 1/1
columbia 9/7
warner 6/6
thorn/emi 1/1
cbs/fox 10/7
total wcs: 27/22

stereo music: DTV 3/3
fraggle 1/1
rca 13/12
warner 1/1
mgm/ua 4/4
vestron 1/1
embassy 1/1
paramount 1/1
MPI 1/1
total stereo music 26/25

cartoons (2 are stereo): RCA 17/17
disney 23/23
warner 2/2
FHE 6/6
MCA 1/1
Ch V.L. 7/7
paramount 1/1
embassy 1/1
total cartoons 58/58
HTF is 7 discs

Series/ other (13 are stereo )
vestron 1/1
rca 74/68
warner 4/2
paramount 4/4
fox 1/1
MCA 2/2
FTT 2/2
mgm/ua 1/1

total other 89/83

total in shelf 200/188

and this is my split shelf that holds most of my stereo and my interactive discs as well as my oddball mono's

shelf 3 stereo
mgm/ua 17/15
warner 17/15
MCA 22/19
cbs/fox 21/16
columbia 12/11
PSO 1/1
RCA 2/2
disney 3/3
touchstone 1/1
thorn EMI 1/1
P.A.V.R. 1/1
handmade 1/1
paramount 13/13
embassy 6/4
vestron 8/7
total stereo 126/110

and the bottom half of the shelf

paramount 54/43
disney 5/5
handmade 1/1
avco/embassy 1/1
embassy pictures 3/3
mgm/ua n/a 2/2
RCA only 20/18
RCA metro g/m 5/3
interactive 7/6
holocaust 4/1
total on bottom 102/83

total discs 823
total titles 731
total mono 657
total stereo 166/165

....hmm my math seems to be off somewhere...
