|

Hello, I'm Vince. I've been a long time lurker but this is my first time posting a question. I just obtained a pristine SGT-200 along with 4 other players from an estate sale. The SGT-200 is the only working unit, and it plays wonderfully. There is one problem though, when the player goes to reset itself to "0" after you for example, finish side A and flip to side B, it does not reset. It usually goes back about 10 minutes then starts playing the movie. The only way to get to the beginning of the disc is to use Rapid Search.
-The function motor belt is good. It is not new, but I've used the player to view about 15 movies so far and all has been well.
-There is nothing on top of the player that could hinder the sliding of the arm.
Usually I can almost always figure out what is wrong with a CED player, but this is stumping me. I want this to be my everyday player because while my SKT-090 is nice, this one matches my VCR and BetaMax player better. And its Stereo! So I kind of want it to be perfect. Thanks for any help! |

in the sgt250, when you re insert the caddy to flip the disc, it manually rewinds the stylus arm back to its start position, either its not getting a good purchase on the caddy, or maybe something is stuck in the track or it is not well lubed... take the cover off and insert a disc and see how the stylus arm moves after watching a side of a disc... _________________ Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350),sft100,sgt250,sjt090,100,101,200,300,400,vp550, VP4000!

sounds like a cam on the arm return assembly will not engage, allowing the disc caddy to push the arm back. Normally it locks so the disc caddy can push the arm back to start when disc is inserted and it will release and let disc go all the way in when it hits the stylus adjustment screw in 3rd pic.
Check to see if the cam is not working right. If it is we can still help you look for the problem!

Thank you everyone for your help! The cam was not locking, the spring must have been worn out. So I took the cam assembly off of a parts player and it seems to be working quite well. Thank you for the pictures Blindfury, otherwise I would have had no clue what you were talking about xD _________________ 2 - RCA SFT-100
