Well, the only thing you can do then is to try to get enough cash on hand to buy the lot, and I will send you $20 if you get the rest.

But it's probably a good idea to try to get the price down first. Just tell the seller that you really did not get any interest on the CED forum, and you can offer him such and such amount for everything yourself. $20 will come from me, plus I'd send you the shipping/packing costs. Like I said, you can get the 250 in working order with help from everyone here, unless it's already in good working shape.

He'll either accept it or not. If not, you are not in any worse position than you are now. You can figure that you will save some money since the discs don't have to be shipped to you.

I think no more than $100 even is the value of that lot.

That siimply won't happen like that. I live on $730 a MONTH, and after rent, food, utilities, personal debts and food it's not a plan and the money never sees the end of the month. If he doesn't choose to split it I can't do anything with it.

Sorry.

Okay...I just awoke from my nap and oddly enough he called and again asled me if I could find a certain set of alloy wheels for his car and apparently that's how I'd come up with the entire lot...I had to give his wife the email address I gave that night again because he'd lost it though.

Wondered if he'd forgotten.

I'm happy that someone remembers as it's miserable inside and out and it took about 4 min to figure out who it was coming hard from a nap.

Can I possibly ask you to look as well? That will get the whole thing and then we can get you the player.

I'm still groggy but my cats gotta have some food and I have to get my budget printed and envelopes ready to go.

My address is asynchronousman at msn com

thank you

I know this is gonna sound silly on THESE forums but what the guy wants is:

LTS Alcoa Wheel
16X7
6 on 5.5

and of course I have the picture he sent.

If I can find him that the whole thing is mine and yours.

So far a challenge as they've been discontinued for at least 3 years.

I've found several listings for them in local So Calif classifieds, but the prices for a set are way more than the $150 he was originally asking. So that's not really practical. So it doesn't look like this will be a deal.

He doesn't care about that...je just wants me to find them and let him know and when he gets that, I get his...

So that's not at all relate to the $150. If you have some links please let me know at asynchronousman at msn com

Okay, since you are familiar with Craigslist, go to the Calif craigslist

http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites#US

and do some searches in the LA, Orange Cty, Inland Emp, San Diego areas, and maybe some of the other larger CA cities.

Reason is because So Calif is the laregest market in the US for automobile accessories.

Sure can...but did you have any of those listings offhand?

I spent a long time looking yesterday in search to no avail and a good part of today paying bills and chasing bike parts as I've lost both of my bikes' front rims.

Thank you.

I just put into the search ALCOA WHEELS or ALCOA RIMS, and a bunch came up. I dropped the rest of it.

I'm still working on this...

I asked him how much in cash he wanted for the PLAYERS and it wasn't a whole lot...I think it was around $25-30 for the 300 and mot much extra for the other 3 chassis.

He clarified that is was a SIX lug wheel although it looks like SEVEN in the picture he sent and that's when I asked for a cash price.

Goven that I've run his description several times to start with and recieved either a mindnumbing amount of hits to go through or very few listings I'm almost inclined to go to the cash offer and boot up this calamity box less often.

I just installed my customized Phantom tank on my Schwinn after all.

BTW, why do I have to wait so long to resubmit an edited post? That's one of the few things about phpBB that ever bugged me and most of my other forums are vBulletin or WordPress.

He'll take $50 for the PLAYERS.

Does anybody still want one of them?

I can buy them on the first. I'll get the 300 and then I'll work on some horsetrading and save to get mine going.

Will that work?

I looked over and over for the trailer rim he lost that matched his truck and I talked to him today...he thinks he found it.

I hope he has because it was a needle in an OCEAN. I got very close at 15 x 7, same style...once.

Please email me at asynchronousman at msn com. I can facilitate this but I have to recover some of it or it starts taking away from something else this month although next month I'll have an $100 extra credit from energy assistance (probably won't repeat next year with budget cuts).

When you live on a fixed budget you figure things out and budget.

Sorry it took so long...I've had to replace a wheel and an axle on my two bicycles myself.

Steven

PS That's all of them, not each of course. That should be a better deal.

I've had my eye on the 300 since the beginning though. I don't think I need three of them so I'd offer one of mine in the hope you could leverage it.

I hope that isn't a bummer and I saw a potential S-- 200 in my eBay search a couple days ago but I don't have Paypal and never will.

One stereo and one mono player works...Barry Manilow will get 1/2 the respect he deserves here Laughing

Here's one SGT 200 (repairs): http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-RCA-SELECTAVISION-CED-MODEL-SGT-200-SGT-200-VIDEODISC-PLAYER-to-Repair-/130950468532

There are four of them in the search: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_vxp=mtr&_nkw=ced+players&_sacat=0&_lncat=0&_arm=1&_armm=94&_ruu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2FeBay-Motors-%2F6000%2Fi.html%3F_nkw%3Dced%2Bplayers%26_arr%3D1&_armi=eBay+Motors

Why they are all in eBay MOTORS only the creator knows.

I think that he does have somebody who might want that library locally as I know who he's talking about well.

I think $20 for the remaining players would be fine and another $5 for one of mine as I paid $50 but then 1/2 the discs came with it. It's in my fullest interest to get one running not only for me but to check the discs I have and see if I can complete a few people's split sets along the way. I have at least one current request right now but cannot test it.

Let me rephrase myself as I don't think I said that right.

I can get the players fine for $50 and I went through my budget to make certain of that.

I have wanted that stereo player (the 300) since I first saw it, Although it's probably not what you'd prefer I'd like to let you have the remainder for $20 plus one of mine for another $5 PLUS SHIPPING or I can send them wherever they are wanted.

I just agreed to buy three sealed discs from Rocktober Blood, the two music titles and the Mister Magoo feature and I intend on using them and playing my Barry Manilow's First Special and others when I get one running. I only need two players, one for each system (living and bedroom) and I should pass one on in my mind. I have a ton of stuff to work on in stereo equipment, musical instruments and bicycles already so excess CED players aren't really in my best interest.

I have an extra $100 credit payment for energy assistance going to the power company next month but that is probably the last time it will happen for a while and I'm likely going to have to hunker down this winter given the budget kabuki theater we've gone through for some time. I don't want to seem to be slow but I'm doing too many things at once and that isn't easy.

Please let me know what I should do. I can buy all four players but I want to send the remaining ones off.

I think if our new member Dude111 knew who I am he'd vouch for that as he should know me well under that name.

There, I got that all said and wait for you.

You previously said you wanted the 250, which I thought was a complete player. The 300 and the others were missing the front face.

So if you want the 300, that's fine, but I don't need another 250.

Oops...sorry, you're right...

good grief.

Okay. Let's get that figured out then.

I sleep tonight this night. At least I'm no longer typing from the bed with a dumb KB that has a POWER SWITCH below DELETE.

How do you want this done?

You're awfully patient.

You get the players and decide what you want to keep for yourself, then I will buy the 300 and maybe more.

Seems to stick to between bands 0 and 2 including visual search.

The picture is good although Blazing Saddles had color banding sporadically and every so often I'd get B/W with what can best be described as the streaks across the screen when you FF or REW a 2-head VCR...the audio sounds fine as well.

I gotta save $8 for the three titles I wanted that he will bring over Monday (he has a bull in the county fair and was up all day so he wasn't up to looking for them).

It doesn't seem to trigger the auto switcher on the video RF modulator without swithching it manually and it's bit squeaky but the speed is stable.

An official Woohoo!

I managed to get my copy of Grease as far as number 3 on the display before it started to get set and repeat a certain groove or two but I can get through the Sandy and Danny opening and just past the T-Birds up to the Pink Ladies credits.

Now that I've seen that my RF modulator isn't automatically switching I'm going to go back and try my other two again...

You must be talking about the 250.

The most likely reason you cannot get past the first coiuple of minutes is due to a weak or slipping servo drive belt, which is the belt that advances the stylus arm. See here:

http://www.cedmagic.com/tech-info/repair-solutions.html#worn-out-servo-drive-belt

The color banding you see sporadically is likely due to the drive belt slipping a bit, or the turntable stem needing lubed. See here:

http://www.cedmagic.com/tech-info/repair-solutions.html#improper-turntable-speed

Most SFT and SGT players that have sat a while should have a servicing to get them to operate the best way they can. They are a little difficult to service if you are not familiar with the build, especially getting the turntable out. The servo belt requires that one be able to work and see in a small confined space. The best way I've leaned to fix the servo belt slip is this great tip from Cedatum:

http://cedatum.com/15322.html

I do this to all SFT/SGT players that I get. I also use this tip to clean up the turntable drive belt. Since I normally take the turntable out anyway for lubrication, it's easy to do, plus I can clean the dust off the turntable cylinder where the belt grabs.

Part of this servicing includes cleaning and lube of all moving parts where needed. The cleaning is usually needed because there is so much dust collected in a 30 yr old machine.

Once these things are done, I will bet your 250 will work like new, but it really isn't a job for somebody with no technical expertise, because mistakes can easily be made.

I have the DVD for the J/K series that James Curiel sells on eBay...that will at least be of some guidance, even if not exactly the same.

I also have a 6" magnifier and lighted loupe glasses.

Do I have enough to examine the styli and find any good ones?
