so i have noticed whenever the disc skips for more than a few seconds, or if i rewind or fast forward, the screen stays black and the picture or sound never return, you have to eject the disc and start over again, visual search works but rapid search or pause or a long skip and the picture wont come back, anyone had this happen to them before?

| Stylus isn't resetting itself, especially if the time counter is off. Could be as simple as dirty or worn stylus. |

the stylus was refurbished i believe before i got it

A dirty or damaged disc can bang up a stylus even if it was a small little skip you never noticed. I have had some disc's take a stylus out before. Disc looked absolutely fine but about half way through it went skip crazy and never came back and nothing worked. I had to send stylus to cedatum for a repair not a cleaning

ill pop it out and replace it with another stylus an see what happens

Here is an example of a stylus that got gunked up from a bad disc. Courtesy of John and Amanda at cedatum!
On the initial test the picture was very grainy and unstable. The tip was clogged with junk from the disc surface. A basic clean with alcohol did not remove the deposit. The tip was later microcleaned. This removed the deposit. The cleaned stylus is now a Grade A- with a nice picture.
And here it is cleaned by Amanda B., also part of cedatum!

dang, i wish i had a microscope, cus with the naked eye the stylus looks okay

| i had john repair mine and i think mine is a grade b cause it was broken but it works now but may need cleaning as for my other ones may need the same as well |
