I got some glasses a few weeks ago and yesterday I got my first 3-d title!!! I have 2 more on the way which would total 3-3d movies and 17 non 3d titles!
I should clear this up a bit I guess
This was for demonstrating that the glasses function, not to show you that I think a 3-d movie will show up 3-d, through 3-d glasses that I recorded with my non 3-d camera phone haha. You can clearly see the double images turn into one image, showing that each side is sequential and only registering its needed part (NOT 3-D) at these times.. 0:40 and 2:10
Video is a lil dark, but hey it's 2 in the morning, it's dark in my house and I am drunk... so give me a break will ya haha

Looks cool Ryan. I'm trying to get Back to the Future on VHD. My goal is to own it on every format it was released on. So far I have,
CED
Betamax
VHS
Laserdisc
VCD
DVD
Blu-Ray
I think the VHD is all I have left but I'm not positive at the moment. One finally just went up on ebay so I'm hoping to get that. Is that where you get your VHD's from or is there a guy you know or a website you go to where I could just buy the Back to the Future VHD if I don't win the ebay one? Also just out of curiosity what's a player go for these days with shipping to the US? Thanks. |

What about MUSE Laserdisc? I know it's crazy expensive most of the time, but it is a slightly different format than regular Laserdisc. Also, does anyone know if it was released on the Video8 format? I love the tiny cases for those Video8 tapes |

| Back to the Future is on MUSE Laserdisc, I have seen two of them on eBay both went for over $150 and I can't see spending that kind of money on a movie that's just going to sit on a shelf. As for Video8 I have had an eBay search set up for it for almost a year and one has never shown up so I don't know if it was released on that format or not, I'd have to do some more research into it. Ryan, I contacted your friend about the VHD and he said he had just sold one for $10. The one on eBay is $15 plus $3 shipping. I don't know if that's a lot or not. But thanks for the contact in case this eBay one gets away, and by all means go for the Back to the Future 2 disc, I won't bid on that one. |

If you want that back to the future the $15 is absolutely worth it! I got part one just a bit ago for $5 but it was likely cause I bought 10 or more disc's from him haha! You don't even wanna know rinkya prices haha. It may cost less initially, but commission and shipping to warehouse and then shipping to you will destroy your brain haha! Also whorida charges more than 3 for shipping Still good prices coming from japan though I promise you!
$8 For 1 VHD
$13 For 2 VHDs
$19 For 3 VHDs
That is nothing next to rinkya even if your lucky and buy it for under 1000 yen with free commission!
I might be buying a huge amount of video8 unopened old stock still in boxes, trying to work the final parts of the deal out. I'll ask if back to the future is in it and if there is more than one I'll give it to you! _________________ I dont own

After that, you might consider getting the 16mm print, since it's legally available for sale, unlike 35mm prints. One went for $20 pounds UK money on ebay recently, though only a partial print. 16mm projectors are pretty cheap. Be great to find a widescreen print. |

Sounds great Ryan, let me know if it was released on Video8 and I would buy it from you if it was.
RJ, please explain the 16mm and 35mm to me? Where those home video formats or are you talking about film rolls like they used in the theater. I've seen on ebay someone is selling one frame of a film strip from Back to the Future at Universal Studios. Not sure what that's all about either but I'm not really interested as I'm only collecting all the home video format releases of it. I'm also wondering if it was ever released on D-VHS or S-VHS. I know there was movies released on S-VHS but due to the extreme cost the format didn't last long for home video. I've never checked to see if it was ever released on D-VHS format.
And to keep this CED related I do have an extra copy of Back to the Future on CED if anyone needs one. |

As a former theater projectionist, the 35mm prints sent to us had to be returned to the production company always. If not, you would get nomore films from them. 35mm films are considered proprietory product and typically are not sold on ebay, and are removed if ebay notices. Most 35mm prints available for sale are either taken from the theaters or studios by theft or from a foreign distributor who went out of business before returning the film. That's why "lost" films rediscovered typically are prints found in other countries.
16mm prints were made by license from the production studio by other companies who paid a fee to do that and the film was then owned by them. They then rent the film out for viewing at small places like colleges, etc. The 16mm film had to be returned, but it was not always returned, and if the licensed outfit went out of business, it was auctioned off. So that's how they end up being available on ebay and it's legal. |

| Sounds cool, good to know. So just how common are these 16mm films. Would it be real hard to find Back to the Future. I'm guess it's such a popular film a 16mm reel like that would go for big bucks. Thanks for the info though, I'll keep that in mind in case I ever come across 35 or 16mm in the future. |

One complete 16mm Back to the Future set of all 3 films was on ebay and brought $2600 in bids, but the reserve price was $3999.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/16mm-Film-85-BACK-TO-THE-FUTURE-Complete-Trilogy-/310285951059?pt=US_Film&hash=item483e7be053&nma=true&si=7IfWwB3RLXIzQYaj9mst2WCvBxg%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
That's a bit special since it was all 3 together. Normally one print of one of them would not go that high. Many 16mm films are way cheaper because there's not a big demand for them. Many libraries sell off their collection of 16mm films cheap since they went to digital DVD format instead. You just have to be lucky to find such a sale.
I got my 16mm projector from a school sell-off for $20. Bell & Howell, a nice recent model. Big projection screen was only $10. Had to grab a bunch of bulbs for it, just in case, but it's a great fun thing to have for a movie expereince for the family. Showed the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre one time on it to a packed living room. Great fun.
Not a big thing now since there are 80" HD TVs. but you can show movies outside on a summer night on the side of a house or sheets pinned together, and get a simulated drive-in experience. |

| That's a little rich for my blood, and I thought the MUSE Laserdisc was expensive. First I've ever heard of this 16mm format so I'll have to keep my eyes peeled now. Thanks RJ. |

Back in the days of bootleg videotapes, some bootleggers would buy the 16mm print of a movie that was not released on videotape and make a master from it and sell the tapes. Worked out pretty well since 16mm was already usually 4:3 ratio and better resolution than TV at that time.
Some of the 16mm films were actually either in public domain or foreign versions, etc, and outlets like Sinister Cinema used the 16mm prints for their specialty releases, which was legal. Typically films that would not see major release due to limited public interest. Occassionally, these places released a film that was still under copyright and turned out to be popular, and the copyright owners would sue for royalties.
Most of the major studios would license their films to other companies for release on tape and collect royalties without having to do the hard work making the tapes. Back in that day, the studios didn't care if it was Beta or VHS as long as it sold and they made money. So the two formats could stand on their own merits.
Unlike the recent HD DVD vs BR DVD where Sony used payola and graft to influence the outcome in their favor, where they otherwise would have very likely lost out to HD DVD. |

As I emailed you before I found out there was no release of BTTF on video8, at least according to griffith who sold them in his stores when they were actually being sold.
As for the vhd's.... I was not able to win BTTF 2, were you able to get Part 1? If not I have one almost here and a second one on the way that was bought in a lot of 20 disc's. I don't see why I cant sell you one of them as long as both arrive in one piece!
