Just got this off eBay and replaced the load belt. I noticed the remote sensor block is angled (Shown in pic) is it supposed to be like this? Also my platter appears to be missing the foam pad around the border (Other pic) is this how the SJT-400's were or was it removed at some point? If so can I order a replacement pad somewhere to stick on or do I have to replace the platter? If the platter needs replacement has anyone done that before that can guide me through it? Thanks for any help.

Remote sensor is angled like that no worries!

I'm not sure from the pic but it looks like its just dirty? It is grey and only about a 1/16 maybe a lil more in height on tt platter. If it has been removed for some crazy reason I think you could find a suitable foam or feltish 3/8 to half inch wide? from home depot, or lowes, or menards?

The turntable is easy to remove. But you'd have to have a tt from another player and its rare a tt is the problem. If you want to remove tt anyways to oil tt shaft or do the 30/32nds adjustment I can help you.

It looks like the little strip is there, just dirty.

You can clean it with a firm artists brush and plain clear rubbing alcohol, to brush away as much as you can. Then let it air dry and you're ready to go.

Thanks for the info on the remote sensor, I'm glad I asked instead of just trying to bend it back and messing things up.

As for the turntable platter it's just hard plastic. When I opened up the SJT-090 that I jacked the loading belt from there is an actual foam padding.

Is it really a big deal if that foam is missing or is it something I should get fixed? If so how hard is it to remove the platter as I'll probably just swap it out with the one from the SJT-090. Thanks.

The turntable platter in your photo looks as though it has the padded ring around the edge. Or at least a compressed padded ring.

If it doesn't, what is that which is visible around the edge of the turntable that looks like a ring?

Even if it is a bit compressed, it is still suitable for playing discs once cleaned up. The whole point of the ring is to lift the disc a tiny bit so it doesn't sit on the surface of the platter except on the very edge where there is no groove.

If you only have broken remnants of a padded ring there, it still can do the job. But it's possible to clean up the turntable really good and make one. Not easily done since it has to be the exact width and thickness of the old one and fit a circular circumference.

Swapping the turntable is possible but can be a big problem if you make a goof at any step of the way.
