Hey there! Just wanted you to know we have acquired a large collection of video discs - over 5,000 and 122 players. Yes, there are duplicates which we will be most likely selling at some point.

Here's the news story (the first one anyway)

http://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/2012/06/07/my-collection-grew-and-grew

The discs will end up as part of the permanent collection at the Personal Computer Museum in Canada

http://www.pcmuseum.ca

NOTE the interesting part about RCA's Executive Vice President at the time and who brought the SelectaVision out - he's a Brantford, Ontario native and inventor of the Electron Microscope!

Holy crap nice find! What are you guys doing with the players? hahah Are they all retail or any demo or engineering/prototype models? Cool that it's going in a museum too!

Not really sure on the players I know when I first looked at it there were some still new in the box. Once we get everything in our possession (tonight and tomorrow) I can start the process of cataloging it etc.

Man, 122 players haha that is so many! I thought I had a lot with like 40 altogether! I am willing to buy the duplicate players or the players you just aren't keeping. The disc's are gonna take you a bit to get through but again I'll buy what you aren't keeping! I am actually within driving distance too! I don't know if you want to part the players or disc's out but I'd also be interested in a huge bulk buy for both!

Amazing! Absolutely jealous, but so happy they go to a museum who can and will keep them safe! I have a feeling some of those players are gonna need some work whether its a general cleaning or some electronic work but likely just some belts haha! If you need help on anything there are many people here and some you can just communicate through email, but many will be willing to help! Please keep us updated and please let me know if you are getting rid of any players! I am within driving distance and will make sure they get fixed for others to enjoy! Movie night will definitely never be the same around there hahah!

edit* do you know what player is in the blue striped box by chance?

I don't know....but we are going to start cataloging and going through some of the items during our open house on Saturday. We're open 10am to 4pm and it's free admission. You are welcome to come and join the fun!

I might actually do that! I am about 3 hours away but that is a joke of a drive. If I do, I will say something in this thread before I leave! Thanks for letting me know too.

So I thought I'd share - I did a radio interview about video discs today:

http://www.pcmuseum.ca/media.asp?media=radio

(it's the top interview but the other ones are good to listen to as well Smile)

And I was on television:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqMtjv6WcAU

Definitely spreading awareness to our younger generation!
