CED VideoDisc and Player Discussion

I know a person in Central Ky that has close to, if not, 2,000 RCA videodiscs for sale. Mostly are rental, but also has several cartons of new discs in the shrinkwrap that came directly from the factory at RCA. These discs have been kept in a good climate out of extreme heat and cold. He has two handmade display tables and also a SJT300 to throw in as well. He wants no less than $1,000 dollars for the whole lot of tables, machine, and discs. Not a bad buy. I want to buy them myself, but cannot afford the whole lot. Also, he has quite a few new 400 series interactive disc titles. There are a couple duplicates here and there on the new titles, but he claims that he is 90% sure that he possibly has all titles that were ever pressed. I have seen this collection myself and have tested a couple of discs. He will not split anything up and declares he would rather destroy them than get less than what he wants for the whole lot. This would be a travesty. I am asking if anyone person, or group of collectors in the area would like to team up and purchase the lot to possibly split up? I would only charge a small finders fee of $50.00 and 100 discs of my choosing to help make this connection happen. PM's dont work here I am very serious when I say I am interested. Can you give any other information or ways to get this to Michigan? I have driven all over for these disc's and players but am not sure if I have the time to get down there, but I do want it all!

Maybe I'm wrong, but here's some cues about the nature of the post:

1. Poster is new member calling self "Boozetroll". Is he maybe a message board troll?

2. Seller is 90% sure he possibly has all titles ever pressed. I think most of us who collect would be 100% sure. Not that hard to find out if you do, and it definitely makes the lot more valuable, rather than using wording that leaves people guessing and hoping, likely in vain.

3. Seller would rather destroy them than take a little less??!! Come on now, is this the type of person who is a serious collector and respects the format? An annoying and disingenuous attitude is being shown by the seller having this position. In other words, an attempt to make interested parties feel guilty for the seller being inconsiderate. I would ask this question, would he rather destroy them than donate them to a worthwhile charity who could resell them on the internet and gain some needed funds. If he answered yes to that, then that's a person I would not deal with for anything, regardless of what it may be, but that's just me.

4. "Serious inquiries only" in all capitals with 4 exclamations. Hey, pal, you posted this on the premier national CED collector forum not Ebay or Craigslist or a used car lot. If you want to deal with serious collectors you're in the right place, but you need to keep an eye open for the serious inquiries you get and then reply.

Of course, if you've just been dealing with an emergency, my apologies.

You did exactly the right thing blindfury, someone who is passionate about CEDs like you. I don't blame you a bit. Wouldn't it of been a great haul though?

I am so glad to see that a group of collectors are interested in this collection. It really is a great buy. One more thing, since there are so many of you interested, I will contact you individually as stated and try to help out the most likely purchaser. I also have a couple of pictures of a portion of the stash that I will attempt to send in an attachment if I don't have any technical issues. However, folks shouldn't be so quick to judge my screen name nor my passion of the CED format. I know it is crazy, but the owner of these discs wants money and doesn't give a damn about the format. He will either keep, let rot, or destroy these discs before he lets them loose for less than the price mentioned. Please be professional and don't embarrass me at the sale and try to low-ball him. The price is firm. He wouldn't take kindly to it. Remember, this is Kentucky. Once again thanks and good luck!
