CEDatum already offers a stylus rebuild service for RCA stylus cartridges. We have received requests, including urgent requests, for an Hitachi stylus rebuild service.
We have started work on this and have rebuilt several Hitachi cartridges with new RCA diamond tips. We NEED more Hitachi cartridges to work on to enable us to improve the process.
If you have a spent Hitachi cartridge we would like to have it. If you have an Hitachi cartridge you would like rebuilt, we will do this work for a small fee.

Please contact CEDatum for details and a mailing address. We are at : cedatum@ccrtc.com

The Hitachi stylus cartridge is the "slim jim" cartridge used on CED players from Hitachi, G.E.C, Realistic and Sears. These players are all "Made in Japan" models.

Amanda at CEDatum.

I've got one somewhere that doesn't work, if I can find it I'll send it out to you.

I can see that this topic is "ancient", but does any one know the current status of Hitachi CED stylus cartridges? Is the CEDatum service still available today? Has anything changed since 2006? Is there still a shortage of Hitachi stylus cartridges? Were any more of them discovered? I am just curious.

They rebuilt my Hitachi cartridge and it works great. I highly recommend their service. They offer a first rate service and are customer driven.

how much do you charge to rebuild one of these stylus'? would it be cheaper to send mine to be rebuilt or buy a new one and send the old one as a core charge? id really like to have a spare stylus, the one i have works now, but i dont know when its going to break, and i hate having downtime on my favorite stuff...

A full on rebuild is I think $34. Buying a new one is not possible as they do not make them and cedatum doesn't usually have them for sale nor do they take broken ones as a trade, but they do buy broken ones. A used one or still in box old stylus are possible on ebay or Craigslist or the like, but very few and far between! Anyways if you want to know exact prices you can always email the cedatum team!

You'll have to email them and see if they have a hitachi style stylus available! Not likely, but sometimes they do!
