CED VideoDisc and Player Discussion

Hey guys. Recently I received another CED player for my collection. It has several problems. I will be getting a service manual soon so I can diagnose it a little better but hopefully some of you guys have ran across the same problem. When it powers on the L displays but when you load a disc it stays at "--" even though it is playing. It also plays with no color and no sound. The first thing I checked was the 15V regulator. I replaced it with a known good one and I replaced the belt. There is a hot spot on the top circuit board in the area of the stylus lifter. There is a blackened area at resistor R76 and R62 as though they got extremely hot. Anybody have any suggestions on this.
On a second note, I recently bought an SJT300 on eBay. I already had an SJT100 and thought that would be a good addition. It has the common problems that you see a lot of these players have that are on eBay. It had a disc stuck in it. I got it in and removed the cover only to discover that it was an SJT200. It had the wrong cover on it. What a let down. I was wanting the SJT300 for the remote control capabilities. I did received an SGT250 the other day. It looks and plays like a new one and the remote control even looks new, so I guess that made up the the SJT300 somewhat.
