[ Look at E-Bay item 260968988420 - RCA 154216 stylus cartridge for the J OR k line CED players. Buy now price of $79.99
Now examine the attached photo of the stylus out of its box. You will notice that the fly lead is straight. In a good cartridge it should follow a semi-circular bend and connect to the black ( diamond) tip.

This one is most likely bad - and it is auctioned as no return.

Sad for the buyer - John at CEDatum

I do see the fly lead not curving back up to the front of the bar's black part where the stylus tip is. Did you happen to tell the seller they are selling a broken stylus? Even worse, the person who buys it wont likely know there is someone like you out there to repair them Sad

[BlindFury, these stylus carts are now at least 27 years old and the fly-lead has been under constant tension for all those years. If it has sagged down it may still make a connection with the diamond tip. There is not enough detail in the angle of the photo to know for sure.
But either a sagging or broken fly lead- this is not a good cartridge.

I have not informed the E-Bay seller -

Someone should send him a message letting him know. Chances are he will pull the defective stylus. At this price, it would be better to take our chances with buying a "For Parts" player, with a used stylus.

Can broken fly-leads be repaired or replaced?
