I am in need of help. I grew up in a household with a CED player. I was watching Animal House on Blu-Ray and noticed that the cafeteria scene has two different songs playing than the CED version. I have searched all over to find out the name of the songs but have struck out. If anyone could tell me the name & artise of the songs (when Bluto is in the food line and when the food fight breaks out) you would make my day.

The song when the food fight breaks out is Let's Dance by Chris Montez, 1962.

The other one escapes me right now.

I tried to find it using Sound Hound and it comes back with nothing. I've searched youtube, wikipedia, and google and there are a lot of other people looking but no answers. It sounds to me the song is called "Don't mess around with Ruby" but who knows. Good luck.

The other song, which is the one playing while Bluto is getting his food from the food counter is Wonderful World, by Sam Cooke. You all know it I'm sure, it goes:

Don't know much about history,
Don't know much Biology,

etc, etc...

You must be watching a newer copy, on the CED it's a song that I'm guessing is called "Don't Mess Around With Ruby". I've heard Wonderful Life and that is not the song playing while he is at the food counter on my disc. But I did see on the back cover of the CED it says "Some Music Rescored For Home Video" This may be what they are referring to about changing some of the songs. Well again best of luck.

Here is the song copied off my TV if you want to listen to it, sorry I sneezed at the end, lol.

The actual correct song from the original film release and soundtrack is Wonderful World, in the cafeteria scene, along with Let's Dance. For home video release Wonderful World was replaced by the made for the home video release R&B song "Don't you fool around with Ruby" credited to Otis Day & the Knights, the band that performed in the film.

Otis Day (DeWayne Jessie) is an R&B singer and actor, and the younger brother of The Coasters vocal group member Obadiah Jessie.

This has to do with the estate of Sam Cooke disputing the rights to his work by Universal at that time for use beyond the theatrical release.

I've seen home video releases where the other song, Let's Dance, was replaced by Wooly Bully, which is awkward since the film takes place in 1962 and Wooly Bully was released in 1965. Ha!
