|
|
Have an SJT 400 that plays but the front panel buttons are unresposive. Actually all are unresponsive except one, the pause button, but it doesn't pause, it rejects the disc. Also, the player doesn't respond to the remote, which has been tested on another player as good.
Is this merely a front panel issue? |

Do the buttons feel weak when u press them? Sounds that way. Time to break out the solder iron and some tactile switches to replace the old worn out stuck switches on it. Cedatum does this and he sell kits to do it your self. I have had this done and I know its not the hardest thing to do! I also have done this to the 200 you sold me... I sent you pics if you remember! Except I replaced the whole weird switch thing from a broke 100 so I didn't have to do tactile switches nor solder! But the whole non responsive remote that works elsewhere has thrown me for a loop so I honestly am not sure. _________________ I dont own

Yes, I recall that about the 200.
I expected that's what it was, but the non-responsive remote is a curiosity, as is the pause button working the reject.
Unless maybe the remote is non-responsive due to the bad switches overpowering the remote signal or that remote signal is processed through the switches which would make sense.
Well, I think I have some extra panels around here somewhere to use as replacement. |

I was passed a note rix...
A failure mode of the front panel of the J/K 400 player is a sticky button on the film under the push buttons that sends a permanent signal to the player. This can "jam' data into the system microP and make all or part of the Remote inactive.
The way to check this - remove the front panel of the player and pull out the front panel connector . I will almost bet that the Remote will now control the player.
Do you have nos panels? I happened to get two for the j/k 090 players from rlb. If you have any parts that are nos or gently used I could definitely use and buy some off of you! _________________ I dont own

I expected that the sticky switches were interfering with the remote's operation. I'll check it out.
I don't have any NOS parts, but some used players for parts. Not a lot, but some. I have to check my lists and see which ones.
I'm taking your SGT 200 to shipper today. I picked the best one of the lot, it looks and plays like new.
Did you ever figure out what was going on with that nice SJT 200 I sent you that loaded up and stylus came out, but still would not play, even with a new stylus? |

Oooo I cant wait to see the g200! Thanks
After getting the one 200 to work I haven't had the time to look at it since I was looking at other players. I completely forgot about that problem but once I get the few players out of the way I can go back to that one! _________________ I dont own

Well, taking loose the front panel connection did the trick. The remote now works the player fine, so I'll be looking for a replacement panel for it. I think I have a good 100 or 200 panel from a parts player.
Anyway, do you have any tips on reinserting the front panel? I always have trouble getting the connector in place at the same time as snapping the panel in and arranging for the door hatch wire to line up to where it connects, and then getting the connector cover in the right spot too. It seems to require three or four hands to do it right!? |
