|
|
| Hello, I have a toshiba beta player, that when i put a tape in it, it would not player the tape or eject it. I carefully removed the tape, and now the door is still open and i have no idea on how to make the machine work if it is possible to do so. The model is AV-200C. Any help is appreciated, thank you. |

Did this player work recently or has it been sitting a while?
These players, when sitting, may have bad and/or loose belts that cause the functions to not operate. Usually when mechanical parts don't work, that is the most common cause. Or there could be an obstruction or a loose part or gear.
VCRs tend to have more belts and pully systems than either LD or CED players. |

| I was given the player and was told it was sitting for a while, should i just go through the whole thing and check for belts that look bad and that kind of thing, or is there a certain place on the machine that is should check first? |

| Your first choice is right. Beta is significantly different from VHS in tape loading mechanisms, so it's pretty tough to narrow it down to any one single belt. Plus different manufacturer from Sony, etc. |

I wonder if it is anything like the Function belts on our CED players. _________________ 1000 titles

It's much more complicated than that. There are several belts and gearing systems engaged simultaneously and, sadly, not easily visible from the top with cover off. Oftentimes these belts and pulley require removal of the bottom panel and it's a tight squeeze too.
CED players are marvelously easy to work on compared to these Betamax things. |
