What will you be watching this month for Halloween?
Oct 1st- I just got in today's mail the rare widescreen LD of Dracula 1979 version with Frank Langella. Haven't seen it since 1979, so that's tonight's movie. |

10-2 Okay, that 1979 version of Dracula was pretty good.
I have a copy of the 1973 version of Frankenstein that's supposed to be pretty good on LD. Will check it out tonight. |

10/1 Last night I watched, "Dracula Has Risen From the Grave (1968) A bit campy, but this was one of Lee's finer Draculas (IMO) I love the old Hammer movies. This one was a DVD I got for Christmas last year, and just put it in for the first time. Fall is the perfect time to watch these old classics. OCT 1st CED: Silver Bullet
OCT 2nd. CED Halloween II This horror film is one of my all time, and I just got the 30th anniversary disc on BluRay, and it is awesome!! I still love the CED version too. Tomorrow, Psycho, (hopefully) _________________ 1000 titles

Yeah that a good one. The third in the series, but sadly without Peter Cushing.
10-3 Tonight is CED night, and I think I'll pick one I just got and have not yet seen - Hell Hole. Sounds pretty weird. |

So I guess that means you got the package. that's good. The post person left me a note to pick mine up at the post office tomorrow. We had a big rain today and I guess she didn't feel like trudging up to the house.
Oct 4 - Tonight the CED 80s scarefest continues with Visiting Hours. |

Endangered Species (didn't finishe it, hated it)
The Thing from another world
My sister and I love the old B&W horror movies, She lives in Texas, I in Kentucky, so once in a whie we watch a movie together, last night Curse of Frankenstein, and It Came from Outer Space was on TCM, so I watched them with her. _________________ 1000 titles

10-6 Well, it's earlier here where I am so I'm going to catch Endangered Species tonight since you mentioned it. It's one I actually like and haven't seen in ages, and also I just got the disc of it today. Sorry it's not your kind of movie.
So I sent you The Changeling disc out today. Both extra copies I had were of acceptable quality, former small town rental aquisitions, so I looked at them both and sent you the best one. |

Since I have a nice copy, tell me a litttle about it? Maybe i'll give it another shot. I have been wrong before. Take John Carpenter''s The Thing, I have never watchedit through. I have had it on CED for a year, but I didn't think I would like it because of the gore, but it is fantastic! It had me on the edge of my seat! In fact, I'm watching it again! What exactly is it about? _________________ 1000 titles

Well, it's one of those 70s paranoid type thrillers presented as a quasi sci-fi film about the real cattle mutilations that happened in the 70s, and were thought to be possible alien experiments of some sort. Of course we later learned they were the work of some stupid satanic cults.
Along the same lines as Capricorn One and Coma, where there's a conspiracy going on involving the gov't, shady rich corporate types, etc. Other films of the period with that theme are The Conversation and The Parallax View, both really great films.
What I like about it is that both leads, JoBeth Williams and Robert Urich are really good and not the typical Hollywood pretty types. It's an interesting premise and has some nice thrills, but it's not really a horror film.
So tonight I think I'll catch one of those great Hammer sci-fi terror films, let's say THE CREEPING UNKNOWN aka The Quatermass Xperiment, sadly was never on CED so I have to watch the LD version. |

10-8
The Creeping Unknown was great. One that's good to watch every couple of years. Tonight is the last night I can watch any spook shows for a while, so probably I'll catch the sequel, Enemy from Space, another fine Quatermass film.
We leave for Lake Tahoe and Virginia City tomorrow morning for our anniversary vacation. My wife and I got married there in Va City last year on 10-10-10, cowboy style, so I promised her we'd go back every year on our anniversary until we retire there. So no shock theater while we're gone, but I'll be back on 10-20 to resume.
We'll say Hi to the Cartrights, if we can find the Ponderosa. In fact Bonanza is on TV right now! |

I recorded some scary movies from FOX movie channle last night, I haven't watched them yet, (our grand daughter is visiting) On of them is about a woman who joins the circus and becomes part of the freak show. The next one is, believe it or not VISITING HOURS!!!! I love that movie, because it has an outstanding cast,
Michael Ironside
Lee Grant
William Shatner
Linda Purl
One of my all time favorite 80s thrillers!!! I bought it on CED when it was new back in 83, and I have been trying to find a good copy ever since. _________________ 1000 titles

There is a movie out there that has Peter Cushing is in a movie that I cannot find anywhere. He plays a man who loves a woman that must have blood or something from other people in order to stay young and beautiful I always thought the title was Corruption. There is a scene in it where Cushing is on a train, stalking out his next victim. He finds a beautiful woman and murders her on the train. I loved this movie, but can't find it anywhere. Anyone ever hear of it???? _________________ 1000 titles

Seems to me it is in private hands now. Last time we were there was a few years back though. Pancake breakfast, car museum, working blacksmith shop were good. The Cartwright house was 'ok', what do you expect for a set though
Congrats on the anniversary, top off the evening with a dinner/champagne cruise (look for coupons $$$$$) _________________ Scott

Ponderosa set is in private hands to be developed into ritzy homes. Nothing was right after Dan Blocker died, but what a fine program while he was around, and especially when all 3 sons were there. I always prefered Lorne Greene as a dad compared to, say, Fred McMurray who struck me as too weird.
We did the dinner cruise last year, and again last night, it's nice enough.
Snow on the peaks here and nice hiking weather too. Don't see anything remotely spooky on the TV coming up at all, except some of the news reports. But it is great Halloween weather here. |

Well, we are back from Lake Tahoe, and waiting at the post office was a package of still sealed CEDs that I'd traded HD-DVDs for.
In that package was 2 sealed copioes of The Incubus, so I'll watch that tonight.
Beetle, I got a sealed copy of Table for Five, which I think you are looking for, correct? |

10-20 Tonight I have an RCA laserdisc player I just fixed up and going, so I'm planning on using it to watch the LD of PHANTOMS. One of the last LDs pressed, 1998, widescreen and with dolby digital 5.1 also.
Hey, Beetle, are you there? Or am I doing the Halloween thing alone now? |

Okay, I am holding it (table for five) for you. It's one that I really don't have an interest in.
Maybe we can make a trade for it? Just send me an email, you already have the email address.
I hope the Changeling arrived okay.
Today I plan to watch the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre on CED. I only watch it around Halloween, once per year. |

| 10-22 Since I caught the original TCM last night on CED, I think I'll make it a series and watch TCM Part 2 tonight, but it's gonna to be the LD version since that's the only one I have. |

Okay, that was a nice series, but to continue it tonight, I have the uncut DVD version of Letherface, Texas Chainsaw Masacre 3. The theatrical version was cut to get an R rating instead of X, and Jeff Burr got to restore it for the DVD release. Mostly additional gore and a scene of Leatherface unmasked, where he's shown to have a disfiguring skin disease, which isn't on the LD version.
If this sounds familiar (re: TCM remake of 2003) that's because the 3rd installment of the series was the basis for the remake's Leatherface character. Part 3 was actually not a sequel, but a remake itself, or that's how it was planned anyway. The whole original family and settings were changed, and the new Leatherface was more brutal and not cowering to the other family members as in the first two films, which is the same type character used in the 2003 remake, including the disfigured facial features. |
