|
|
These crates are amazing! Even more than I first thought. Because they are plastic, if you stack them and try to put CEDs in them, you will be sagging like Granny & Grandpa! So, I have 10 boxes, bolted (not the plastic hooks that comes with them, use them ONLY if you have bolts in the previous holes) I took 2, 1"x 2" finished oak boards, predrilled the holes, and nailed the two boards to make an "L" I stuck the longest part of the "L" under the front of the cases and put a 1/2" board in the back, so they would tilt more toward the wall, (prevent them from falling forwar) and they make a perfect way to stoer 450 or more CEDs! Check it out:

Now the picture was takenn before I bolted the crates together, It works fine without, but I thought it would just make it even more sturdy with bolts. They have been sitting there for 4 days, and no swags yet! What do you think?
Next, the people who lived in the house were Football nuts, and had 2, 15" monitors above the bar, I took them down, and I'm going to mount them on the wall, so I can use some of my players for "Preplaying" my CEDs, (to get skips out before viewing) :

I like the boxes. 450 CEDS would weigh about 675 lbs, so you definitely don't want them leaning forward. Leaning to the wall is a good idea.
How do you get photos attached to your messages here? I have not figured that out yet. |

Yes, I thought aboout how to make sure the boxes were leaning slightly more toward the wall than not. The pieces of hardwood I am using, I put a thinner piece in the back, got my level to make sure. Another thing I did to make them even safer, I bolted them together.
OK Rick, the way I post the pics is as follows:
I take a picture add it to my pictures, I then post them on another sight I visit. After I post them somewhere else, I do this"
RIGHT CLICK ON THE DESIRED PICTURE,
CLICK ON PROPERTIES
COPY THE ADDRESS
WHEN YOU COME IN HERE, JUST ABOVE THIS BOX, YOU WILL SEE 'IMG',
CLICK ON IT, PASTE THE ADDRESS RIGHT BESIDE IT, MAKE SURE THE "IMG THAT IS AT THE END OF YOUR MESSAGE HASN'T GONE DOWN A LINE BY ITSELF OR IT WON'T WORK.
Someone who really knows how to do it will prolly laugh at me for all the steps, but I tried every simple way, and to know results. This is the only way I can get it to work. I hope this helps you! _________________ 1000 titles

Yep, and these are the plastic ones, bolted together and strips of hardwood, they are quite sturdy. I was thinking of trying to find the Itso, plastic lids and cover the front when im not using them, but i'm not sure the lids would fit as close as the discs ar to the end/top/ Dean, did you get lids with yours? _________________ 1000 titles

Beetle,
They do not come with lids as they are for shelving. However, they do make a version with a door, but I think the door won't close with the discs inside.
Your setup looks great! Brother! |

Thank you sir! Wait until you see my players displayed with the 2 monitors! I will fix it so I can switch the coaxil cable/RCA plugs from one to the next, or I can compare 2 players at once, or just preplay some new movies, so the skips will be reduced when we get ready to view them:). I'm going to mount the monitors on the wall just above the players, i'm thinking it is going to be very nice:). I'll post some more pictures. My beautiful Zenith is sitting there looking all new. The SFT100 won't play very well yet, but blindfury is going to send me some instructions on how to repair it. CEDatum told me a good way to check out my SJT400 would be to compare how it plays beside an SJT300, which I have one of those (the one you sent me dean!) John just repaired for me. Currently it is in the living room upstairs, but when I get my monitors hung, I plan to compare them in there. _________________ 1000 titles
