OK I am almost finished unpacking things, and putting everything away, and ALMOST ready to start going through my CEDs to put them back inot alphabetic order, (I was just grateful the movers were willing to carry all 7 boxes of my movies downstairs!) And a thought hit my brain. Each year, I used to watch AMC Monsterrest, but unfortunately they changed it to Fearfest, and IMHO, it seemed they just kept playing the same movies over and over. Used to they would have cool host and have Frankenstein Day, Wolfman day.... So I was thinking it would be nice to have a CEDmagic Monsterfest ourselves! So, pull our your favorite movies of the Horror genre, and put your top 10 on a list, and we can have a Monsterfest online! I know it prolly isn't possible to get all of us on a Skype so we could discuss the film as it was being played, but that would be cool. The next best thing is, If we have the same CEDs we could schedule to watch it all the same time! (unless you aren't from the states, unless you want to stay up really late:)) But even the guys & gals who aren't in the same time zone, can still watch and comment. This is just an idea, feel free to tweek it and throw in any ideas. You still have time to buy up some good ones. I'm going to go through my list as I put them up, and I'll make my top 10 list of favorites.

PS If you are just getting into this hobby, and you want to watch a particular movie that someone lists, use a different format, to follow along.Smile.

I'm going to make my tentative liist: It is hard to pick only ten. I'm going to pick only the CEDs that I have. John Carpenters Halloween has always been my favorite, Unfortunately it is not available on CED. So this will be the list of favorite Horror CEDs
1. Poltergeist
2. Silver Bullet
3. Frankenstein
4. Christine
5. The Fog
6. Halloween II. Friday the 13th parts 1-5 (cheated here a little bit. Smile
7. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)
8. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1977)
9. Alien
10.The Beast Within

There are so many to choose from, it is hard to stop at 10. i'm sure I will think of some more. Anyone else like scary moves besides me???

Halloween III is good, even though it has nothing to do with the other movies in that series. The CED of course is 4x3 pan and scan from 2.35 scope, but depending on your line of thought that makes it more fun to watch (or not.)

I need to finally watch my CED of "Zombie" so I can decide if it's in good enough shape or if it needs replacing.

I do as well.

My list will include these:

Hospital Massacre
When a Stranger Calls
Visiting Hours
He Knows You're Alone
Impulse
Don't Look Now
Hell Hole
The Boston Strangler
I Spit on Your Grave
The Final Terror

Most of these are not horror films of a supernatural nature, but still appropriate for a Halloween fright fest.

Now, Beetle, you just made a good point for getting yourself a laserdisc player. You need to get yourself the 1st Halloween movie on LD to fill out your collection. The cover's just as nice as anything on CED and just as big too.

Then you can start getting all those other great horror films to complete your festivals, eg, Wolfman, Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Val Lewton Collection (all 9 horror films in box set).

And how about Psycho 3 & 4, the 4th Omen film, Texas Chainsaw 2 & 3, the rest of the Alien films...

And these seminal films of modern horror: Night of the Living Dead, The Hills Have Eyes, Maniac.

And these Argento & Giallo films: Bird with the Crystal Plumage, Suspiria, A Blade in the Dark, Black Sunday & Black Sabbath.

And I almost forgot all of those great Hammer films, none of them on CED.

There's plenty more. You get the idea.

Hospital Massacre actually takes place on Valentine's Day! And strangely enough I watched it for the first time on Valentine's Day not knowing that.

My CED of I Spit On Your Grave is thrashed, but haven't been able to find a good copy of that for a decent price. First time I saw that was on a rented laserdisc, and it was funny because there's one scene with a lot of red (if you've seen it you'll know what I'm talking about) that caused a lot of video and audio noise at that point.

What's the Tall Man about? It sounds good. Rixrex you have a great point. I think I wold love to collection all those movies that are not available on CED. I do have them on VHS or DVD. I love the old monster movies, not to mention the hold Hammer films. Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee are two of my favorites! I went to a "Peddlers Mall" in Lexington, KY He had about 40 or 50 Laser Discs new in the cello. I am tempted, but, for now I have to stick with CEDs. B the way, how much do the players cost? I had forgot aboout Visiting Hours and Sanners! I don't have either one of those yet, but I am looking!

In looking over my CEDs of horror for Halloween, I discovered an extra copy of CARRIE. I tested it and it plays well.

Isn't somebody here looking for a copy because theirs was trashed?

My two favorites are the original Dracula and Frankenstein and they are in mint condition.
Did you know that Dracula contains a line that is in I think the top 10 or 20 of the greatest lines of all time in movies. Can anyone remember that line?

Hint, Dracula is walking up the stairs and he hears a wolf howling.

You're right. It's number 83 on AFI top 100 film quotes. But I can't believe it's a better Dracula quote that the one I thought it was.

Who picks these anyway?

I don't know, but I'll bet "Beam Me Up Scotty is on that list"

I have in John Carpenter's THE THING now, it is 1:30 am. I'm going to finish side one and get side 2 tomorrow. The Amityville Horror, it is creepy because my wife tells me I look like James Brolin. I really don't, it's just the beard,

Started off the day with War of the Worlds, and now, The Beast Within, if you don't know the movie, I would say it is a B movie, but pretty good popcorn flick.
