Shhhh, say to much and the bargains will disappear Quite a good selection in the 63 lot. Somebody should pick it up for Eraser. It's #1 for laser rot, my copy has a trace amount and if I hadn't been actively watching for it, I might have written it off as 'nothing' http://www.lddb.com/laserrot.php _________________ Scott

I'm shocked to see so many late 1990s releases at the top of that rot list!
I'd thought the manufacturing process was much better by that time, but I see those top ones all came from a plant called DADC.
Anyway, I like one in this lot, the Highlander widescreen anniversary edition.
Well, at least you don't get rot on CEDS, only stup[id seller that stacke them incorrectly and then put the player on the top of the stack. |

DADC was Sony's pressing plant- it was speculated they were making faulty discs on purpose to get people to switch to DVD. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

I would believe that considering their history with Betamax and Blu Ray.
They screwed themselves on Beta with their unbending attitude that nothing Sony does could ever be done better nor need be corrected by suggestions from outside the Sony boardroom.
But then they put in a performance worthy of The Godfather and his cronies when they jammed through BR using payola and graft, and skirting antitrust laws, while our government was busy harrassing regular citizens and being incompetent otherwise. |

If you are looking for a player, check Craigslist, pawn shops, Salvation Army etc etc.
When you start looking for specific higher end models.... there is a guy out here that has them, but $$$$$
http://www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk/ personally I wanted a 'flipper', but since you are trained on CED's, you are use to getting up and switching sides _________________ Scott

| I'll look through all the ones we got from Dad's estate and see if I can find one that you can have for $20. Of course it will be one that works. and be packed well, as you know already. |

I did find two that I thought you'd like. I think there's something like 30 laserdisc players here.
Sending you an email with photos. |

What model do you have currently? Are you looking for any particular model?
What brand do you prefer, if any? Both side play, I assume?
The ones we have here go all the way from the simplest Sony, Pioneer and Panasonic up to the Pioneer DVL combo LD/DVD players. |

This is the one in the living room -->http://www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk/laserdisc_archive/pioneer/pioneer_elite_cld-79/pioneer_elite_cld-79.htm
You are correct- both side play
Panasonic LX-900
Denon MD-3500
Pioneer Elite series
Runco LD-RJ
etc etc etc _________________ Scott

I'd be interested in a laserdisc player with both a normal digital output and one for AC-3, digital freeze-frame on CLV discs and of course 2-sided play- preferably NOT a DVD combo player as I already have 2 of those (one I got new in 1998 and was my main player for both formats for about 11 years!) The LD player I'm using now can't freeze-frame CLV discs but does everything else. _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |

Okay, fellas,
when I go back to Dad's house where everything is, I will make a list of LD players. It will be a few days yet.
I know there are several of the DVL combo LD/DVD series there and several Pioneer 700 series. As I recall, the only standard LD player (meaning not Elite series and not DVL series) sold in the US that had AC3 out, Optical/Coaxial Audio out, and RCA plugs audio out was the CLD-704, and the CLD-604 had optical out, no coaxial. There were other models that had AC3 out and RCA plugs audio out, but those didn't have optical or coaxial audio out.
Other than Pioneer, Sony made a few models that had all the audio options including AC3, the MDP-V series, of which I have not seen any around for ages. |

Well, out of the big lot of LD players, I had a CLD-D704 which has the AC3 and digital optical/coaxial outputs, but my son grabbed it for himself.
Other than that one, I have two CLD-D504 models which have AC3 but no optical nor coaxial output.
There's one CLD-D406 which has AC3 and optical output, but it needs the laser assembly replaced. I'll either see if I can replace it or you can have it for free and replace it yourself if you know how.
Then I also have these DVL models = 700, 909, and 919
I have many others which I will put on a list of in another posting in a couple hours, once it's typed up. |
