Another problem on same player. Does anyone know how to stop it from not engaging to lower disc? Any adjusting? Or just some grease?

That's similar to a problem I had once hooking up to a new TV set that basically converts the analog signal to digital form. The picture probably looks fine on an old analog set, maybe with a little bit of not-too-noticable spottyness. But once it's on a newer set, you get that problem because it's either got to be a perfectly good signal or you see nothing, no in-between allowed. Make sure you have good connections too.
Try it on an old analog set or another set and see what you notice, if anything. If you're watching your CEDs on a newer set with HDMI inputs, you need to check out the Hitachis upconvertors I have in the classifieds. (Excuse the self promoting plug please)
On the other matter, it's perhaps getting hung up because of too much tension/friction somewhere or maybe catching or snagging of a piece that needs to be freed up somewhere in the gearing/linking system that drops the disc lowering arm. Probably needs good cleaning and lubing all along the system. Also, you might have a weak spring somehwere in that assembly that is supposed to hold a part in a certain spot that doesn't or creates a necessary tension somewhere.. |

Is there a way to fix this problem?
in picture look carefully at the function gear. On the left side of the gear is a cam with a fine spring. The cam must be able to move freely. Is there grease or thick oil on the cam ? If so remove it.
Also rix you were right about tv! That was the first non sft player I have tried on my 28" hannspree, put it on my 32" sanyo and it worked fine! The sanyo is what I watch and test everything on. So i wont try my tv in bedroom anymore. _________________ I dont own

So were you able to get the gearing cleared up okay? When cleaning up gunky grease, nothing works better than a light weight petroleum to cut it.
I use WD-40 when I have to clear away hardened grease. The grease dissolves quickly and wipes away. Then you can clean the parts with a good cloth and relubricate.
If you have to do it on an assembly you cannot easily take apart, it works, but you have to place towel or paper towel underneath somehow to catch any runoff. Or you can put the lighter weight stuff on a small but stiff artists paint brush and brush the gunky grease off. |
